Brazil arrive in Lima, Peru for the 2nd round of CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers following an emphatic 5-1 victory over Bolivia in the opening round last week. Meanwhile, Peru returned home from Ciudad del Este after a well-earned goalless draw with Paraguay as they held out for much of the game with ten men.
The Incas are hoping to break their World Cup Qualifying duck against the Verdeamarelha, having never won against the five-time World Cup winners in this competition. In fact, the only time Peru have won against Brazil in Lima was the 1953 Copa America – a solitary Luis Navarrete goal. It is also worth remembering that the hosts greatest ever defeat was at the hands of the samba stars, a 7-0 reverse in Santa Cruz, Bolivia during the 1997 Copa America.

Peru have never began a World Cup Qualifying campaign without conceding a goal in their opening two matches. Should Pedro Gallese pull off another outstanding performance, as he did against Paraguy, they could set this new record. It will, of course, be difficult to stop Neymar who surpassed Pelé as Brazil’s all-time topscorer. The Al-Hilal forward also has six goals in this fixture, more than any other player in the history of Peru vs Brazil.

Peru vs Brazil final prediction
Brazil proved in the previous game that they weren’t missing Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr., as his stand-in Raphinha put on a match-winning display against Bolivia. Peru are a team in transition and have had plenty of injuries themselves plus the suspension of full back Luis Advíncula.
Everything points to Brazil’s fifth straight win against this opponent, we think 3-1, with Neymar fancied to get on the scoresheet yet again.
