Premier League football is back for both Nottingham Forest and Burnley, as the two sides go head to head at the City Ground this evening.
Both clubs have had to wait even longer to be in action after the international break, with the fixture selected to entertain those watching Sky Sports Monday Night Football in the UK.
Nottingham Forest vs Burnley predicted lineups and news
It wasn’t long ago that the two teams met, as they tussled at the City Ground at the end of August in the Carabao Cup. Vincent Kompany’s squad had the last laugh, winning 1-0 thanks to a 90th minute winner from Zeki Amdouni.

Unfortunately for the Clarets, such form has not been translated into the Premier League yet, as the newly-promoted squad still seek their first points of the season.
Team news: Nottingham Forest
Forest have started the season in an encouraging fashion under Steve Cooper, claiming six points from their opening four games.
Despite losing to Arsenal and Manchester United, the Reds performed well on both occasions, and have managed to score in every fixture so far, reflecting their improvement from last campaign.
Last time out, Cooper saw his side emerge with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with summer arrival Anthony Elanga scoring his first goal for the club.
Unfortunately for the hosts, there are doubts over Elanga’s fitness after he returned from the international break with a hamstring issue. Elsewhere, Danilo is a doubt after sustaining a thigh injury against the Blues.
Nottingham Forest predicted lineup
Turner; Boly, Worrall, McKenna; Montiel, Yates, Mangala, Aina; Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Awoniyi
Team news: Burnley
Burnley lead the way in the Championship last season, earning promotion from being crowned outright champions under Vincent Kompany.
Unfortunately, the Clarets are without a win or draw in their opening three games in the top-flight, losing to Manchester City, Aston Villa and most recently, Tottenham Hotspur so far.
Level with Wolves, Burnley have conceded the joint-most goals so far, conceding 11 in three to highlight their frailties at the back.
On the injury front, Michael Obafemi, Hjalmar Ekdal and Darko Churlinov are still far from returning, however Kompany will be rejuvenated by the returns of Aaron Ramsey and Vitinho who have recovered from their respective issues.
Anass Zaroury will also return from his three-game suspension, and will hope to inject some additional threat to the attack.
Burnley predicted lineup
Trafford; Al-Dakhil, O’Shea, Beyer, Roberts; Redmond, Cullen, Berge, Zaroury; Amdouni, Foster
Will Taiwo Awoniyi score again?
If there’s one player that Burnley’s leaky defence should fear, it’s Taiwo Awoniyi.
The Nigerian has made a thunderous start to the 2023/24 campaign, having a hand in a goal in every fixture so far.
Cooper’s star forward scored three in his first three games, and assisted the winner at Stamford Bridge last time out, with the 26-year-old hungry to continue his scoring form.
A goal tonight could take him joint-second in the top scorers chart of the Premier League this season, with Erling Haaland leading the way as expected with seven goals already.
