The game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25th and will be played in Wellington, New Zealand at the Wellington Regional Stadium in front of a sell-out crowd. The kick-off time is 06:30 am GMT. Now, let’s delve straight and look at all the team news and also at our predictions for New Zealand women vs Philippines lineups.

New Zealand predicted lineup: Why touch a winning squad?

The Football Ferns showed great character in their opening match and thanks to a goal from captain Hannah Wilkinson, her 5th in her last 7 games for club and country, New Zealand beat the in-form Norway team 1-0.

After failing to make it out of the group in any of their 5 previous World Cup appearances the co-hosts New Zealand feel that this might be their year. They played a strong first game and looked determined to force the issue in front of what was a great sell-out crowd supporting them passionately.

More of the same can be expected now with New Zealand having the unique opportunity to make it 2 wins in 2 against the minnows of the group and World Cup debutants the Philippines.

With no injury issues reported coach Jitkas Klimkova is expected to name an unchanged starting lineup.

New Zealand Predicted Lineups (4-3-2-1):

Philippines predicted lineup: Will the heavy underdogs register a shot on target?

The Philippines lost 0-2 vs Switzerland in their World Cup debut. The Asians failed to deliver and were on the back foot all match. Despite using a 5-man back line they were shaky and got lucky to concede only 2 goals.

Going forward the Philippines created precious little and they finished their first match without registering a shot on target.

Changes to the lineup can be expected but the 5-3-2 formation should remain unchanged. Experienced holding midfielder Annis could start now. Also, Guillou might be considered for dropping to the bench after a very poor showing in the first game. Flanigan could take her place up front.

Here is how we think the Philippines will line up in this opening game.

Philippines Predicted Lineups (5-3-2):

McDaniel – Barker, Long, Cowart, Beard, Harrison – Quezada, Sawicki, Annis – Bolden, Flanigan
