Harry Kane must make the switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester United if he wants to win trophies, according to Gary Neville.
The ex-Man Utd man, who is now working as a pundit, not only suggested that Old Trafford is the only destination for the striker, but added that now is the time for Kane to make the move.
Man Utd have the potential to lift four trophies this season, with the club still in contention for the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League after recently getting their hands on the League Cup.
Spurs meanwhile are fourth in the Premier League, and while still in with a chance of lifting the Champions League trophy, the club were recently knocked out of the FA Cup by Sheffield United.
Man Utd the ‘only option’ for Kane
Despite another up-and-down season for the north London outfit, their star striker and leader Kane has enjoyed another superb individual campaign. The forward has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season, 18 of which have arrived in the Premier League, with only Erling Haaland scoring more.
Kane has been linked with an exit from Spurs for some time, with both Manchester clubs reportedly interested in signing him over recent seasons. But a move failed to materialise, with the striker committing himself to his current club, where his contract runs until June 2024.
Former Man Utd defender Neville has now urged the England captain to make an immediate exit from north London if he has hopes of lifting silverware before it is too late.
“He is a wonderful player, he’s a great professional, and I think if Kane could leave now, and you could get him an exit out of there to a club in Manchester probably, United or City, I think he would take that opportunity,” said Neville, as reported by LiveScore.
“It’s more than likely not going to be City because of their Haaland expenditure and what they’ve done with him, but Manchester United are desperate for a centre forward.
“Chelsea, I can’t see him going there. He’s quite loyal to Tottenham and there’s a big rivalry with Chelsea, so I don’t see that happening, even though they do need a centre-forward.
“He’s not going to go to Arsenal, because of the rivalry, so Manchester United is the only option in England for Kane this summer.”
Bayern Munich also possible for Kane?
Neville added that German giants Bayern Munich is another potential destination for Kane, with the Bundesliga outfit reportedly joining the likes of Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea in the battle for his services.
Bayern recently lost star striker Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, and have seemingly failed to recruit a suitable replacement for the legendary Poland international.
Neville suggested that a switch to Germany would favour Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy, with such a move meaning Kane would not line up against the north London outfit for a Premier League rival in the years to come.
“Bayern Munich have been mentioned,” added Neville. “That could happen and I think Daniel Levy would be happier if he was to go internationally, so we could see that.
“But I think Harry, if he wants to win trophies, is going to have to leave Tottenham, because Tottenham do struggle with that aspect.”
