Netherlands 1-2 France Player Ratings – Here, we round up all the action from Amsterdam, in the 30th meeting between these sides. France stayed perfect in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying to all but secure their spot in Germany next year.
Ronald Koeman handed debuts to four players, in a bid to shake things up against the 2022 World Cup Finalists. The Dutch had lost heavily in the previous meeting in Paris, but were unable to avoid another defeat.
Didier Deschamps was relying on his captain Kylian Mbappé to lead the team to a sixth straight win in the qualifiers, and the Paris Saint-Germain forward got off to a blistering start with his 41st goal for Les Bleus. By the end of ninety minutes he had a brace, the visitors remain perfect.
The home fans will take some heart from Quilindschy Hartman’s late goal, and the assured performance in the middle from fellow first-timer Joey Veerman.

With Mbappé on the pitch, France looked comfortable despite only have nine shots all night, two of those were his goals and another was a late attempt that hit the woodwork. Kylian was awesome in Amsterdam.

The French once again showed their superiority over the Netherlands, it was a commanding performacne at the Johan Cruyff Arena that leaves them top of Group B. Koeman will take away some positives from this game, especially the debut of Veerman in midfield who didn’t seem out of his depth.
The Dutch will hope to get back to winning ways in a crucial qualifier in Greece on Monday, meanwhile the two-time World Cup Winners next game is a friendly with Scotland.
