UEFA Champions League Team News

Erik ten Hag is still without some key players because of injuries, especially when it comes to defenders. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is still not fully fit from his hamstring and Luke Shaw is not expected to return before November from his knee injury.

Lisandro Martinez is probably going to return in January after having to undergo surgery on his foot recently. Casemiro is suspended for this game. Amad Diallo and Tyrell Malacia are also long-term injury absentees, which means they’re unlikely to return anytime soon.

The Dutch manager has to do with whatever options are available to him right now. He needs to improve his side’s performance levels to end their losing run in the Champions League after the gritty 2-1 win over Sheffield United at the weekend.

Predicted Lineup

Andre Onana (GK), Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Sergio Reguilon, Sofyan Amrabat, Mason Mount, Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs FC Copenhagen – Our top three

Rasmus Hojlund – Bright forward looks to keep hold of top-scorer spot

Despite seeing his side lose both their first two Champions League games, Rasmus Hojlund is the competition’s highest-scoring player with three goals. He scored a great brace in their 3-2 loss to Galatasaray. Copenhagen won’t want to give him that much space and their rugged centre-back Denis Vavro will look to bully him with strong challenges.

Hojlund has to be precise with his movement to lose his marker and get his link-up play right to help build up better attacks. Most importantly, Hojlund needs to be decisive with his finishing to inspire United to finally get a big win.

Marcus Rashford – Under pressure winger in need of goals

Marcus Rashford has struggled to impress for the Red Devils this season, only scoring one goal. He is eager to put his sloppy form behind him and can do that by causing chaos for Copenhagen’s backline.

Rashford is probably going to be marked tightly by Peter Ankersen, but his speed and dribbling ability let him get past any defender with ease. He needs to significantly improve his decisiveness and accuracy with his final product. Rashford has to be more clinical with his passes or shots to end his shaky form and light up Old Trafford.

Mason Mount – Energetic no.7 hunting his missing spark

Mason Mount hasn’t exactly been the inspired figure that many fans had hoped he would be upon joining from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. Mount’s pressing ability and passing qualities are unquestioned, but he lacks that ruthless spark in his game.

The Englishman will look to play a more attacking role against Copenhagen and create bigger chances with his innovative passing. This is the perfect game for Mount to really explode and start directly contributing to the Red Devils’ success.

Will Antony start vs FC Copenhagen?

Antony had a disappointing outing in the Sheffield United game and also hopped off the field due to an injury. Ten Hag might not want to risk starting a player who is not fully fit. Moreover, with Antony yet to contribute to a goal this season, he needs to do better to keep a regular starting role.

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs FC Copenhagen – The final word

The Red Devils cannot afford to do anything but win this game if they aspire to keep their hopes of reaching the Champions League knockout stages alive. They need to perform at a much higher level than the last few games, be defensively sturdier and more prolific in the frontline to finally get a win in Group A.
