Under pressure Erik ten Hag has a lot to ponder on after another dreadful week. Here’s a look at the Manchester United predicted lineup vs Brentford as the Red Devils bid to avoid a third shock defeat at Old Trafford in the space of just eight days.

Injuries have to some extent contributed to Manchester United’s poor form. They’ve been left short in some positions and the off field problems regarding Jadon Sancho and Antony have added to their woes.
The steady presence of Luke Shaw has certainly been missed with the England left back not expected back until after the international break. However, some of United’s other problems are starting to clear up with Antony returning to feature off the bench in the 3-2 defeat against Galatasaray in midweek in a match which was strangely reminiscent of the 3-3 thriller from 30 years ago.
There is also a fresh blow with Lisandro Martinez needing an operation on his foot problem. He won’t feature here which will add to the defensive uncertainty that the Red Devils are experiencing and you don’t have to go far back in the Manchester United vs Brentford H2H to see how the Bees have taken advantage of that in the past.

Manchester United predicted lineup vs Brentford – Our top three
Rasmus Hojlund – Is the Dane starting to settle?

There weren’t many positives for Manchester United in the Champions League in the week. Perhaps the only player to leave feeling more confident about life at Old Trafford was Rasmus Hojlund who scored a brace in the defeat to the Turkish side.
That should be a real boost to his confidence levels. Hojlund is now on 3 goals for his new club but all of those have come in the Champions League. The 20 year old is yet to open his account in the Premier League and this is likely to be his 4th start so he’ll be keen to break his duck soon.
There was always going to be a huge amount of pressure on the young forward’s shoulders and he’d love to head into the international break having netted a Premier League goal.
Bruno Fernandes

United need their big players to stand up at this time of crisis. Bruno Fernandes did that in the recent win at Burnley where he netted the only goal but his critics continue to have plenty of ammunition when it comes to the theory that he goes missing too often in big games.
Raphael Varane

The injury to Martinez adds to the pressure on Raphael Varane. He’s likely to be partnered by Victor Lindelof for the foreseeable future unless Ten Hag decides to show a bit of faith in Harry Maguire which currently seems unlikely.
Both Varane and Lindelof were replaced in the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend and Brentford forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa will fancy they can cause problems for the United centre-backs here.
Will Christian Eriksen play against Brentford?
Christian Eriksen has not started any of the last four Manchester United games, with his last appearance from the off coming in the 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich.
After back-to-back defeats, it’s possible Eriksen could return here against his old club, most likely in place of Hannibal Mejbri who started the Galatasaray defeat.
Manchester United predicted lineup vs Brentford – The Final Word
Even by the standards of Manchester United’s decline over the past decade, losing three matches at Old Trafford in eight days against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Brentford would mark a fresh low.
It would raise serious questions about Ten Hag and whether he has the answers and would end any realistic talk of Manchester United challenging for this season’s Premier League title.
