Man Utd vs Nottingham Forest Match Summary and Highlights
Manchester United produced a big comeback display to continue their winning sequence against Nottingham Forest but they were given an almighty scare at Old Trafford. Forest, who had only managed one away win in the entire 2022-23 season, were able to grab a 2-0 lead after just four minutes. United simply had not stepped onto the pitch in the right frame. The first goal came within two minutes and it required a similar time frame for the second goal. However, United did not panic and brilliant movement from Christian Eriksen led to the first goal from the Red Devils.
Christian Eriksen’s goal changed the dynamic of the game completely, as Forest started slipping deeper into their own half. This provided the impetus for United to come in wave after wave. The defence, though, was finally broken with some clever bit of play, as an intelligent freekick from Fernandes led to Casemiro getting a free header just after the break. After Forest were reduced to 10 men late in the second half, the impetus was only on United to get the three points. Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty under immense pressure to finally put United ahead with just 15 minutes left.
Even though 10-men Forest threatened with a late push, they only had a couple of half chances at best.
Man of the Match: Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes came up with a stellar display that formed the crux of Manchester United’s comeback against Nottingham Forest. The Portuguese man produced several clever touches throughout the game and this intelligence meant that United never had to panic even after going 2-0 down after just four minutes. Fernandes provided the assist for Casemiro with an intelligently worked freekick while he also converted the late penalty with aplomb to send Old Trafford into elation.
