According to reports, Manchester United are considering loaning out Swedish winger Anthony Elanga for the 2023/24 season.

The 20-year-old joined the Red Devils’ academy at the age of 12 in 2014 before advancing through the development ranks and earning his senior debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in May of 2021.

Since then, Elanga has made a total of 52 first-team appearances for Man United in all competitions, scoring four goals and registering four assists.

However, the winger has struggled to secure a consistent starting position under Dutch manager Erik ten Hag.

Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho are all favored in wide areas over the Sweden international, who has only started seven of his 23 games in all competitions thus far this season.

That includes Elanga’s five starts in 16 Premier League matches.

It is believed that Manchester United received more than ten proposals for Elanga during the January transfer window, with Everton, Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven among the clubs cited with interest in taking the player for a short stint.

Ten Hag is rumored to have prevented a deadline-day exit for the winger, as he was unwilling to weaken his team with United competing in four competitions.

But now, according to the Manchester Evening Mail,  Manchester United are preparing to loan out Elanga along with fellow youngster Facundo Pellistri this summer.

Pellistri, a 21-year-old winger, has been relegated to a reserve role at Old Trafford this season, making just seven appearances in all competitions.

United are reluctant to trade Pellistri, according to the source, but aim to loan him out in quest of regular first-team action before assessing if he has a future with the club’s senior squad.

The same appears to be true with Elanga, who still has little more than three years remaining on his Red Devils contract.

Man United now have a number of highly-rated young players on loan, including winger Amad Diallo, who has scored eight goals and given two assists in 28 Championship games for promotion-seeking Sunderland this season.

This season, players such as Hannibal Mejbri, Alvaro Fernandez, and Shola Shoretire have represented Birmingham City, Preston North End, and Bolton Wanderers, respectively, in the lower divisions of English football.

Kane and Osimhen Top Transfer List at Old Trafford

While Ten Hag investigates methods to improve his squad for the upcoming season, he is also looking to add a new center forward to the Red Devils, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane said to be among his top targets.

Nevertheless, Manchester United are reportedly unwilling to engage in a bidding war for the 29-year-old and may instead pursue Napoli’s goal-scoring ace Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen will certainly cxome with a hefty price tag too however, as the Nigerian striker has been in world class form for Napoli this season.

His goals look to have secured a first Serie A title in thirty years for the Italian side and they will be desperate to keep him.

If they can’t, a huge offer may be required to prise away the striker and bring him to the Premier League.
