Manchester City are prepared to compete with archrival Liverpool for Brighton & hove Albion’s World Cup champion Alexis Mac Allister.

City are reported to be planning a spending spree this summer to keep the pursuing pack at bay and maintain their domestic dominance, following their third consecutive Premier League championship win this season.

Pep Guardiola has identified the Argentine midfielder, valued at £60 million, as the ideal replacement for Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva, who are both expected to depart City in the summer as their contracts wind down.

Although league rivals Liverpool have been heavily linked with signing the midfielder, City could land a blow to their Merseyside rivals by securing the Argentine’s signature.

Guardiola is also rumored to be a great fan of 19-year-old Paraguayan sensation Julio Enciso, who also plays for Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton.

City Aiming for Continued Dominance with Latest Transfer List

Guardiola and Man City sporting director Txiki Begiristain have compiled a list of summer transfer targets, with the champions eager to act as soon as the June 13 transfer window opens.

This long list of transfer targets includes Mac Allister, 24, and Enciso, 19, as well as Joshua Kimmich, 28, the versatile midfielder for Bayern Munich.

Josko Gvardiol, the 21-year-old defender for RB Leipzig is also a priority at the back if Aymeric Laporte chooses to depart the Premier League holders this summer.

Guardiola has designated Gvardiol as the ideal replacement for Laporte should he depart following an impressive season in which the youngster helped his country Croatia reach the World Cup semi finals in Qatar. Rumors have linked Laporte with a move to Leipzig so a swap deal between the two clubs could come into play once the transfer window opens.

City have also been monitoring West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, but the England international is expected to sign with Arsenal for £100 million.

Kalvin Phillips, whose first season at City was a nightmare after his £50 million transfer from Leeds, could also depart this summer. Phillips, whose season has been hampered by injury, made his first Premier League start for City in the club’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday.

The former Leeds talisman will be hoping for additional starts in Manchester City’s final two Premier League games of 2022/23 so he can gain momentum and impress his manager ahead of next season.

The newly crowned English top flight champions travel to high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday before they take on Brentford on Sunday also away from home. Though the league season is over, the side will still want to keep their winning momentum going with an FA Cup an Champions League final ahead of them.

Squad players such as Philips will likely come in and look to prove themselves to Guardiola, who will be eager to replace any perceived dead wood in his side.
