Harry Kane would have been a better fit for Manchester City than Erling Haaland, according to Premier League legend Thierry Henry.
The former Arsenal striker also believes Pep Guardiola has been forced to change his playing style in order to accommodate the towering Norwegian, as per LiveScore.
Kane over Haaland?

Haaland and Kane sit first and second respectively in the current league scoring charts, with the former adding to his tally in Wednesday’s victory over Arsenal, taking him to 26 for the campaign. Kane meanwhile has 17.
Despite Kane’s inferiority this season, Gunners legend Henry believes City missed a trick when they failed to bring the Spurs man to the Etihad before the 2021/22 season.
A move from London to Manchester for the lethal striker failed to materialise, with Guardiola quickly finding an alternative in Borussia Dortmund’s Haaland.
When asked if he would prefer Kane in his team over Haaland, Henry replied: “I would say that if I had to build a team to win. For example, I thought Man City were going to go for Harry Kane. We all know they wanted him but I thought they were going to come back in.
“I thought he is the typical striker for City. I think it would’ve been better.”
Henry: Kane a ‘complete striker’
While Haaland is scoring goals at a phenomenal rate, Kane has been consistently finding the back of the net for many years, with the England captain recently becoming his club’s all-time top scorer.
The striker netted his 267th Spurs goal in the recent game against Man City, surpassing the total achieved by club legend Jimmy Greaves. It is, however, Kane’s work rate and ability in other areas of the pitch that have impressed Gunners icon Henry.
“He became complete, he became an all-around player and this is what I like about him,” said Henry. “We all know what he can do and all know what he can do in the box, but what he does outside of the box now for his team, this is something that I have to respect massively.
“He became for me, over the last two, three years, a complete striker.”
City more predictable with Haaland
It isn’t just in the Premier League where Haaland has been scoring more regularly than Kane, with the former on 32 goals in all competitions from his 30 matches this season. He has bagged five in the Champions League and one in the League Cup to accompany his 26 Premier League strikes.
Kane meanwhile has netted just once in Europe this season, with his one FA Cup goal taking his tally to 19 goals from 32 matches in all competitions.
Again, despite the imbalance, Premier League legend Henry has suggested that City are now much more predictable with Haaland leading their line. Drawing on his own experience – which includes 175 Premier League goals – the Arsenal hero believes City have changed things completely in order to feed the ball to the formidable Norwegian.
“We all know when Kevin De Bruyne has the ball he can find him,” added Henry. “There was one piece of advice that Arsene Wenger gave me that stayed with me, he said: ‘What can you do when your team is not feeding you?’
“I think he did stop what they were about. They had a certain way of playing. I think they are more predictable.”
