Harry Maguire stands to earn a staggering £10 million if the Manchester United skipper departs the club this summer.

The captain of the Red Devils finds himself in a difficult situation at Old Trafford, with his future uncertain.

After Erik ten Hag came in as manager at the club, Maguire fell down the pecking order and found playing time hard to come by until injuries saw him come into the first team at the end of the season.

Ten Hag favored a central-defensive pairing of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, which limited Harry Maguire to just 16 starts in all competitions, with only half of those in the Premier League.

Maguire Due To Receive Serious Sum If He Parts Ways With United

As his starts reduced, Maguire has been linked with a move away from United, with several clubs including West Ham claiming interest.

If Maguire leaves the club by mutual consent, he could command a hefty payout from Man United due to his contract.

MailOnline reports that the 30-year-old could receive a £10 million payout should he depart the club.

Maguire is not anticipated to earn anywhere close to the £190k per week he receives at United and that could see him compensated by his current club if they decide to part ways.

He is expected to earn roughly half of that elsewhere, which will require the Red Devils to pay to remove him from the payroll.

Two years remain on the former Leicester City player’s contract, which he inked shortly after his $80 million transfer from the King Power Stadium.

Ten Hag Claims Maguire Has ‘Decision He Has To Make’

Maguire’s position at Old Trafford has been discussed by manager Ten Hag. He has repeatedly defended his professionalism but implied that a decision regarding his future must be made as soon as possible.

“Let’s say I’m happy he’s here and when we needed him he did his job. But it’s also a decision he has to make,” the Dutch manager said speaking to The Times.

“No one would be happy with this situation – he is not as well,” The Man United boss added.

“He trains always on the best levels, so with 100% effort. So he handles that situation well and he’s in that manner and in his captaincy he’s important for the squad.”

Maguire could make what is his final appearance for the Red Devils this weekend. United take on near neighbors Man City in the FA Cup final at Wembley and will be aiming to halt their pursuit of a treble.

The defender has been linked to a multitude of clubs over the course of the past year. West Ham, United’s Premier League rivals, were rumored to be interested in him in January and could renew their pursuit in the coming months.

French giants Paris Saint Germain have also emerged as a surprise suitor for Maguire, but the Ligue 1 champions are due to sign Milan Skrinian from Inter Milan and are therefore unlikely to make a significant investment in another central defender.

Since joining Manchester United from Leicester, Maguire has made 175 appearances for the club. During this time period, he has scored seven goals.
