Luton Town will finally get to experience Premier League football at Kenilworth Road on Friday night, as the Hatters welcome high-flying West Ham United.

After gaining promotion to the top-flight, Kenilworth Road underwent maintenance, subsequently postponing Luton’s second fixture against Burnley, which will be played at a later date.

Luton Town vs West Ham United predicted lineups and news

It’s set to be a feisty occasion for both sides who are desperate for a win, but for opposing reasons. The hosts are without any points after two games played in the Premier League, while West Ham hope to extend their unbeaten bounce to four games, on the back of their 3-1 win against Brighton.

You’d have to go back to 1994 to recall the last time the two teams met, in what was a FA Cup game in which Luton won 3-2, a result that the Hatters will dream of replicating on Friday.

It’s been a far from desired, however expected start to life in the Premier League for Luton, after being promoted through the playoffs in May.

In their two games so far, Rob Edwards’ side have picked up zero points and have conceded eight goals in the process, with their last result in the league coming in the form of a 3-0 thumping to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. A 3-2 win in the Carabao Cup against Gillingham on Tuesday will have lifted spirits, however the hope will be there that the side can carry the momentum into Friday’s match up.

On the injury front, the Hatters are expected to be without Gabriel Osho due to a knee injury, while Dan Potts and Jordan Clarke continue their recoveries from long term injuries.

Team news: West Ham

After a shaky end to last season, the Hammers have found their way into their stride this term, winning back to back games at 3-1. A home win to Chelsea followed by last time outs fantastic display against Brighton has set the Irons up well for the challenges to come, as David Moyes turns his attention to Luton.

After being withdrawn in the first half against Brighton, Tomas Soucek may be unavailable due to the concussion protocol, while Nayef Aguerd will return from his suspension following his sending off against Chelsea. New signing Dinos Mavropanos is still unavailable for selection as he recovers from a minor back issue.

West Ham predicted lineup

Will Mohammed Kudus play?

After being unveiled as a Hammer last weekend, former Ajax sensation Mohammed Kudus has been signed in time to potentially feature against Luton.

The forward has already shown a rich vein of form this season in the Netherlands, scoring four goals in three appearances in all competitions, including a hattrick in the Europa League qualifying round.

It’ll be a huge bonus for the Irons if their new signing features at Kenilworth Road, to the dismay of Luton.
