Last term, the talk of the Championship was Vincent Kompany’s Burnley, who gained automatic promotion by comfortably winning the league with 101 points.
Luton pulled off a fairytale story by gaining promotion through the playoffs after finishing 3rd, ending the campaign 21 points behind league winners Burnley, who took four points off them in 2022/23.
The last time the two sides met at Kenilworth Road was in February, when Burnley left with all three points thanks to a 1-0 win against the 10 men of Luton due to a second half sending off.
Rob Edwards will be looking for revenge on Kompany, and will be taking some long overdue confidence into the fixture.
Team news: Luton Town
After starting the Premier League season with four losses, Edwards’ side broke the deadlock by gaining a point against Wolves last time they played at Kenilworth Road.
Last time out, the Hatters won their first game of the campaign by beating Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park, thanks to goals from Tom Lockyer and Carlton Morris.
After his heroics to open the scoring on Merseyside, Lockyer was pulled off due to a facial injury but is expected to be available for the showdown against Burnley.
Ross Barkley could also be back in contention to face the Clarets after returning to training following his absence due to a thigh issue.
Looking at Luton’s absentees, Gabriel Osho, Jordan Clark, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Dan Potts will be unavailable as they continue to recover from their respective injury woes.
Luton Town predicted lineup
Kaminski; Kabore, Andersen, Lockyer, Bell, Doughty; Nakamba, Barkley; Ogbene, Morris, Adebayo
Team news: Burnley
The Clarets lost three games all season, however Kompany has been unable to transfer Burnley’s success from the second-tier to the top-flight in their opening fixtures.
The side that won 29 games last term is currently without a win in the Premier League, having gained just one point from their opening six games, with five losses and a draw on the board so far.
Last time out, the Clarets were defeated 2-0 at St James’ Park by Newcastle United, and will be hoping to end their winless run with a result against Luton.
The team news for Burnley is that Lyle Foster will return to the squad after his suspension, and that Johann Berg Gudmundsson is a doubt due to a muscular niggle.
Burnley predicted lineup
Trafford; Vitinho, Al-Dakhil, O’Shea, Taylor; Cullen, Berge; Koleosho, Brownhill, Zaroury; Amdouni

Will Carlton Morris score against Burnley?
Luton Town have scored five goals so far this season, and striker Carlton Morris has been directly involved in four of them. He netted the winner against Everton last Saturday.
The 27-year-old has scored three and assisted once this campaign, including scoring two in his previous two fixtures, highlighting just how much of a threat he can be for the Hatters.
Burnley know all too well the danger the forward can cause, with him finding the net 20 times in the 2022/23 Championship campaign.
The Englishman is the inspiration behind Edwards’ plans in the final third, with there being a good chance he could make it three goals in three on Tuesday evening.
