Liverpool host Brentford at Anfield on Saturday evening as they look to continue their unlikely search for Champions League qualification ahead of next season.
As bitter rivals Man United stumbled yet again in their quest to secure fourth position in the Premier League this week with a 1-0 defeat at Brighton, the Reds will be further fueled with optimism going into their weekend fixture.
They still trail the Red Devils by four points, and have played an extra game, but having gone seven games undefeated in the division, and putting together five wins in a row, Jurgen Klopp’s side are perhaps at the peak of their powers this season after a rollercoaster 2022/23.
Brentford have enjoyed a good season yet again under Thomas Frank and sit comfortably in ninth position in the english top flight.
The London side arguably have little left to play for except their pride until the end of the season but may well get themselves up for a trip to Liverpool, The side may feel they can give their supporters some joy by taking advantage of some of the defensive frailties that the Reds have displayed throughout this season.
The game kicks-off at 17:30 GMT at Anfield on Saturday evening. It can be seen on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK and USA Network and NBC in the USA.

Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino’s recoveries from their respective injuries have progressed to the point where Jurgen Klopp could recall them to the matchday squad.
According to the latest reports, the season is over for the injured Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Calvin Ramsay.
Liverpool could make a few adjustments to the team that defeated Fulham on Wednesday due to rotations made for that contest.
Cody Gakpo could start in the place of Luis Diaz while Darwin Nunez could make way for Diogo Jota depending on the side’s approach.
No doubt Mohamed Salah will start again and attempt to score his ninth goal in nine consecutive games for the Reds.

Ivan Toney scored the opener for his side in their 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend and he will provide a huge threat to the sometimes shaky Liverpool defense on Saturday yet again.
