Liverpool find themselves in a fierce battle with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig to sign RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi, as reported by ORF.
The 19-year-old has been in scintillating form in front of goal this season. His eight goals have fired his side to the top of the Austrian Football Bundesliga.
Those eight goals have come in just ten matches, while the teenager has added three more in the Champions League. Two came in last month’s victory over Lille, with the other arriving in Wednesday’s win against Wolfsburg.
Salzburg are undefeated both domestically and in Europe this season. Their young superstar has been key to that impressive start.
Moreover, the talented teen has already made his mark on the German national setup, scoring on his debut against Armenia at the beginning of September, finding the net just 18 minutes after coming on as a substitute in the 6-0 World Cup qualifying win.
Adeyemi transfer: is the German starlet Anfield bound?
And such fine form has caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds have their own star in the form of Mohamed Salah, who is continuously staking his claim for a spot at the very top of the world’s best players list, but that doesn’t mean the Merseyside outfit aren’t planning for the future, with first-teamers Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Neco Williams perhaps leading the current crop of the next generation.
And Adeyemi looks like another who Klopp is keen to add to that exciting list. The forward is very quick both with and without the ball, and his silky footwork will be welcomed with open arms by the Anfield faithful. He’s even been played out wide – on the right and left – in addition to his centre forward role in his brief career so far. Those are just a few reasons why Liverpool seems like the perfect fit. Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota all enjoy the freedom to play anywhere in the final third.

RB Salzburg: one of Europe’s top feeder clubs
The Austrian champions are perhaps already anticipating the inevitable, such is their status as one of Europe’s best feeder clubs. Salzburg have won the last eight league titles in the country. Much of that success can be put down to the constant production of future stars. They are, of course, quickly sold on for profit. The likes of Ajax have done something similar. And they are still very much at the top of their game despite losing names like Donny van de Beek, Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt in recent years.
Salzburg’s long list of talented alumni includes Leicester’s new gem Patson Daka, who hit four goals for the Foxes in their recent Europa League meeting with Spartak Moscow. Others are RB Leipzig (Salzburg’s sister club) duo Amadou Haidara and Kevin Kampl, and the small matter of Erling Haaland. The Norwegian first introduced himself to the world during his time in Austria. His stock somehow rises higher every week he steps onto the pitch.
If Adeyemi does indeed choose Liverpool, he will certainly be made to feel right at home by a handful of current Reds. Mane, Takumi Minamino and Naby Keita have all lined up for the Austrian outfit once upon a time. But don’t rule out a last-ditch, big-money swoop from German giants Bayern Munich…
