The agents of Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo have commented on the players’ rumored transfers to Arsenal.
Despite an outstanding Premier League season in which Mikel Arteta’s team is poised to challenge Manchester City to the wire, the Spaniard is eager to bolster his roster this summer.
Injuries to defenders William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who will miss the remainder of the season, have exposed the fragility of Arsenal’s roster and the club will know they have to find reinforcements ahead of next season.
Arteta’s primary focus lies in the midfield and the club has been widely linked with an £80 million bid for West Ham’s talismanic midfielder Declan Rice.
Granit Xhaka is expected to leave the Emirates, and the England international Rice has been linked as a potential replacement.
Kante Could Be Brought In To Bolster Arsenal Midfield
Arsenal has also been monitoring the situation of Chelsea player Kante, whose current contract will expire in the summer, making him a free agent.
Since his 2016 transfer from Leicester, the World Cup champion has been a pivotal figure at Stamford Bridge, but his most recent season has been injury-plagued.
Despite the impending appointment of Mauricio Pochettino and Barcelona’s interest, Kante has expressed his desire to remain with Tottenham.
“For sure. It’s an exciting project for the club,” he told Sky Sports quite recently.
“Unfortunately this season hasn’t been to Chelsea’s standards,” he explained, “But everyone wants to go in this way, the way of success and winning titles.”
“I hope this club will again fight in this direction. Let’s see where I will be but I hope that this is a change for the club, that is most important,” he said.
Caicedo’s Agent Gives Gunners Fans Optimism
Moises Caicedo meanwhile, has been a revelation for Brighton this season, attracting interest from a host of big name clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.
The footballer’s agent, Manuel Sierra, has given Arteta reason for optimism.
“Arsenal is a great team for everyone; let’s see what happens in the summer, there are many clubs keen on Moises,” he told the Arsenal Informer.
“Moises has 4 years left on his contract. He’s having an incredible season, so it’s normal that there are many clubs interested in him,” Sierra added.
“Now he’s completely focused on the last part of the season; all evaluations will be postponed until the summer,” he said, “This is not a surprise because there aren’t many other midfielders so young and talented around Europe.”
The fact that the Gunners are back in the Champions League next season will seemingly aid them in their pursuit of their transfer target Caicedo.
“I believe he can really improve in every aspect of the game,” Sierra said, “He can slot into any [team] as he is ready for it all.”
“His dream is to play in the Champions League and to reach as far as he can in football. His idol? Kante.”
Before Arsenal can hope to sign any of their midfield targets, the club will have to see out this season.
The Gunners are still in the running for the Premier League title although Man City have the clear advantage after Arsenal slipped up in recent weeks.
Mikel Arteta’s side face Caicedo’s Brighton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as they look to keep the pressure on City.
