According to reports, Inter Milan will endeavor to sign both Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof from Manchester United during the coming summer transfer window.
French striker Martial has played in the last two Premier League matches for Manchester United after recovering from a hip injury, but numerous fitness issues have limited him to 16 appearances this season.
The France international began the 2022-23 season as the team’s starting center forward, but he could be transferred this summer as the Red Devils prepare to add at least one new marquee forward to join Marcus Rashford.
Martial’s contract at Old Trafford expires in June 2024, with a one-year extension option.
Inter Monitoring Man United Squad Situation With Interest
Inter are reportedly keeping a close watch on the 27-year-situation, old’s with the Italian giants eager to move for him this summer, and a deal could be completed for as little as €20 million (£17.5 million).
According to the latest reports, the Serie A club is also interested in Umited center-back Lindelof and believe that the Swedish international could be available for a fee of €15 million (£13 million).
The 28-year-old has appeared 23 times for the Red Devils this season, but he has only played 11 times in the Premier League after falling down the pecking order after the arrival of Lisandro Martinez.
Lindelof has started just five top-flight league games this season, and the defender admitted during the most recent international break that he will evaluate his destiny following the conclusion of the current campaign.
“Of course like every player, you want to play every game and obviously I haven’t done that this season,” Lindelof told reporters when questioned about his lack of action at club level in 2022-23.
“Like I said, I want to play, that’s why I play football, I want to play games, but I haven’t thought about that, right now I’m just focusing on the national team and then of course, the rest of the season with the club,” he said.
“Then in the summer we’ll re-evaluate and see what is best,” he added.
Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in signing Lindelof, but Inter is believed to be in the lead for his services.
The Swede moved from Benfica to Old Trafford in July 2017, and he has appeared for the club 219 times in all competitions, netting three goals and registering six assists.
Martial Future Not Certain As of Yet
Since his 2015 transfer from Monaco, Martial has appeared 285 times for Manchester United, netting 85 goals and registering 52 assists.
The Frenchman has dealt with hamstring, Achilles, back, muscular, and hip issues this season, but Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag is optimistic that the forward will be available for the remainder of the season, as the club is still competing in three competitions.
If the Frenchman can get back to full fitness and return to his goal scoring form of old, he could well find that he has a place at the club for the next season.
With Wout Weghorst likely to leave the club and return to Burnley this summer, United will have just Martial and Rashford as striking options.
To ensure they have enough depth at center forward, Martial could see his services retained by the side.
