Inter Milan significantly boosted their chances of qualifying for the stages of the Champions League with a 2-1 victory over RB Salzburg despite not being at the best. Inter Milan took the lead after just 19 minutes through Alexis Sanchez but RB Salzburg continued to be the better team on the evening. They were rewarded for their efforts in the second half when Oscar Gloukh came up with a goal. However, parity was started after just seven minutes when inter converted from the spot Hakan Calhanoglu to make it seven points from the first three group matches.

Inter Milan objective of qualifying for the knockout stages remains intact after the 2-1 success over RB Salzburg. The team has been able to move level on points with Real Sociedad at the top of the table after the first three matches. The victory has also helped open a four-point advantage over RB Salzburg and it is fast turning out to be a race between Inter and Real Sociedad for the top spot in the group. Despite not playing at their very best, Inter were able to get the three points courtesy of clinical efforts from Alexis Sanchez and Calhanoglu.
