Inter Miami have already made big moves when it comes to recent transfers by agreeing to sign world-beater Lionel Messi.
The Argentine will link up with his new club very soon from French giants PSG, with Inter Miami in desperate need of his talents given their current situation.
The South Florida side sit rock bottom of MLS Eastern Conference, with just five wins from their 17 matches so far.
Inter Miami in Alba pursuit
There have been plenty of links to more global superstars following the agreement with Messi, with his former Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets both linked to the MLS club in recent times.
And ESPN claims that the American club have now sounded out Jorda Alba’s interest in joining the team, with the left-back set to leave Barcelona this summer.
The 34-year-old has a contract with the La Liga giants until 2024, but he has reached an agreement to end it a year early, and is now on the lookout for a new club.
Inter Miami do, however, face huge competition for his services, with La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid and Serie A side Inter Milan also in contention to sign him.
And there is the very real possibility of a move to Saudi Arabia, where Alba would join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema among others.
The Spaniard has not closed the door on any options, and is going to take plenty of time to make the right decision, with the defender currently on international duty with Spain.
His nation take on Italy in the UEFA Nations League semi-final on Thursday in the Netherlands.
Alba to improve Inter Miami
There is, of course, the three designated player rule that Inter Miami must abide by, with Messi undoubtedly taking centre stage when it comes to that predicament.
The MLS club are clearly looking to bolster their squad with world-class talent, but whether or not they use one of their three spots on Alba remains to be seen.
The left-back has spent the last 11 seasons at Barcelona, winning countless trophies with the La Liga giants.
Many of those trophies came while playing alongside Messi, with the duo often linking up in the final third due to Alba’s attacking prowess.
The defender made over 450 appearances for the Catalan club, scoring 27 goals and registering 99 assists.
And his lengthy club trophy list includes six La Liga titles, five Copa del Rey titles and a Champions League among countless others.
The defender also boasts a phenomenal international career with Spain, with Alba making 91 appearances for his country so far, with that figure set to rise in the coming weeks.
The 34-year-old helped his nation lift the Euro 2012 trophy, with Alba named in the Team of the Tournament for that edition.
He would, therefore, undoubtedly improve the current Inter Miami side, who are in real need of both talent and experience as they look to climb the Eastern Conference.
But there are no formal negotiations just yet, and no offer has been presented to the Spaniard, who is willing to listen to the Inter Miami proposal.
