Galatasaray vs FC Copenhagen Predicted Lineups: Who wins the fight for early control in Group A?

Galatasaray vs FC Copenhagen Predicted Lineups – Galatasaray are set to kick-start their UEFA Champions League campaign when they host Danish side FC Copenhagen at the Rams Park this Wednesday evening.

A win for either side could catapult them to among the top-two positions in Group A, and provide an early advantage in their uphill fight against Bayern Munich and Manchester United, who face off in the other group opener.

Galatasaray vs FC Copenhagen Predicted Lineups and News

Galatasaray have had a superb start to the 2023/24 season, and are benefitting from an impressive summer transfer window. Having won four of their first five league games, the Turkish heavyweights aim to blow away the Danish side to start their European journey in compelling fashion.

Yet, despite some fans tagging them as the ‘whipping boys’ of Group A, FC Copenhagen might not be one to take lightly. They are currently on top of the Danish Superliga, having won six of their eight games while scoring 18 goals.

This should be a pretty competitive game under the intimidating atmosphere created by the notorious Galatasaray fans at Rams Park. The Turkish side will definitely play on the front foot and barrage their opponents with a variety of constant attacking moves as they aim for a big win, while Copenhagen are unlikely to back down from the fight and can set up an action-packed affair.

Team News: Galatasaray

Okan Buruk is blessed with an almost fully fit squad for this upcoming clash, but Wilfried Zaha is still struggling with an issue and is still not at 100% fitness since his move in the summer. All eyes will be on Galatasaray’s newest summer signings, with multiple players making their Champions League debut for them.

They signed 14 new players in an explosive summer transfer window. This includes former Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi to spearhead their frontline and Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech on loan. A lot of these players have been signed to help them excel in Europe and will be expected to come up with the goods this season.

Team News: FC Copenhagen

FC Copenhagen will be without their defender Davit Khocholava, who is still out of action with a knee injury. Jacob Neestrup should have a fully fit squad available apart from that and he’ll definitely need his side to be at their best to hold firm against the intense style of Galatasaray.

The Danish side also made six signings in the summer window, which included the signing of former Southampton winger Mohamed Elyounoussi and prolific Danish winger Elias Achouri. Both are available to feature for their side in the upcoming game, and will definitely have to be at their creative best to trouble the Turkish side’s backline.

Watch out for Oskarsson

While all eyes will be on the Galatasaray stars taking flight in the Champions League clash, nobody should underestimate the threat that Iceland teenager Orri Oskarsson brings for FC Copenhagen. The 19-year-old striker has been in explosive form this season, having scored five goals and provided two assists already this season.

He scored three goals in five Champions League qualifiers for his side and played a big role in getting them to the group stages. The teenager is fast, wily and very clinical in the final third. If given too much room, the 19-year-old can really trouble the Galatasaray backline and potentially get a result for the Danish club.
