Full time – England 6-2 Iran
The full-time whistle goes on a game of football that lasted two hours. England will be disappointed that they conceded two goals in such a dominant display but will be thrilled with their offensive play. Bellingham was world-class in midfield and the forwards were clinical.
Iran probably didn’t expect to get anything from this game but they’ll need to improve considerably if they are to progress in this tournament.

46′ The second half is underway
Will England go for the jugular or sit on their three-goal lead?
Half time
That half couldn’t have gone much better for England. Barring a complete collapse in the second half, they should be starting their World Cup campaign with all three points.

25′ First booking of the game
Alireza Jahanbakhsh receives the game’s first yellow card for a late tackle on Luke Shaw.
Hard to argue with this
Absolutely crazy that football still allows players to stay on after a clash of heads like that. Temporary concussion substitutes need to be mandatory: get him off, assess him properly, bring him back if he’s fine. A player is always going to say they’re fine to continue.

The teams are in the tunnel
