After a couple of outstanding seasons with the Bees, is David Raya ready to embark on a new challenge? Is Brentford a closed page in the history of David Raya’s professional career?
Rumors have it that the 27-year-old goalkeeper is eager to open a new chapter in his life, with a couple of world-class teams ready to make him a part of their squad.
There’s no denying Raya is a top-notch keeper. He, Bryan Mbeumo, and English goalscoring sensation Ivan Toney were the motors behind the Bees’ success during the 2022/23 Premier League Season. Brentford finished their campaign in 9th place, only two points shy of a Conference League spot.
We’re sure that Brentford’s ambitions will grow even stronger from this point on, but it’ll be extremely difficult for the board to convince Raya to sign a new contract.
Whichever club decides to make an official bid for his services should know that he’ll demand a guaranteed starting position. David Raya is a world-class goalkeeper that has a list of admirers to choose from. Let’s see which are the most likely candidates to scoop up much-admired David Raya in the transfer summer of 2023.
Raya next club odds

Arsenal – 3/10
It seems that in-form Gunners are key favorites to snap up David Raya this season. Mikel Arteta’s title-challenging team fought valiantly during the 2022/23 season, but we couldn’t help but notice a lack of defensive consistency shown by Arsenal. The club could really use another world-class goalkeeper on its side.
That’s why Mikel Arteta’s push for 27-year-old Raya is so strong. However, reports suggest that the deal isn’t as locked as we initially thought. The Bees are doing everything in their power to keep David Raya at Brentford Community Stadium and will likely reject Gunners’ initial bid for Raya’s services.
Arsenal are preparing a lacklustre £23m bid for David Raya’s signature. This is an unacceptable offer for a goalkeeper of this calibre, and we’re sure that Arsenal’s board will have to sweeten the pot before the deal can go through.
Bayern Munich – 9/1
The Bavarian giants are also sniffing around for a possible move on David Raya. The team wasn’t up to par last season, despite winning the Bundesliga in literally the last possible second of the 2022/23 season.
Bayern Munich aren’t known for sending ludicrous transfer offers, so considering David Raya’s acceptable market value, should the deal with Arsenal fall through, then Thomas Tuchel will swoop in in an attempt to put his hands on David Ray.
To stay at Brentford – 10/1
The names of Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Inter Milan were also mentioned this summer. These four clubs are in desperate need of a long-term goalkeeping investment, but it seems that staying at Brentford is option #3 for the 27-year-old goalkeeper.
He has shown his love and devotion to the club throughout the years, so it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he has a change of hearth in the last possible second of the transfer window. Brentford is the club that transformed him into the player he is today, so defending the Bees’ jersey during the 2023/24 season could be a possibility if the negotiations with Arsenal end in disaster. We’ll just have to wait and see what the Spanish goalkeeper has to say on the matter.
