The game is scheduled for Tuesday, August 08th and will be played at the Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. The kick-off time is 09:00 am GMT. Now, let’s look at all the team news and also at our predictions for Colombia vs Jamaica women lineups.

Colombia predicted lineup: Can Caicedo score again?

Colombia started their World Cup with a 2-0 win vs South Korea. The big result for Las Chicas was their 2-1 win vs Germany in round 2. Manuela Vanegas scored the winner in stoppage time in that match. Already qualified Colombia were not as motivated as they should have been for their last match and deservedly lost 0-1 vs Morocco.

In all 3 games so far the Colombians looked lively going forward. Caicedo in particular is having a great tournament and she already scored 2 goals.

Las Chicas will now seek their first-ever knockout win. The only time they made it out of the groups before was in 2015 when they lost their round of 16 match against the future champions USWNT.

Team news

There will be a big absentee for this match. The team’s best centre-back and hero from the win vs Germany Vanegas sits the game out suspended. Daniela Caracas seems the most likely player to start in her absence.

The health of the squad remains good and there are no major injury issues reported.

Colombia Predicted Lineups (4-2-3-1):

Perez – C. Arias, Carabali, D. Arias, Caracas – Bedoya, Montoya – Caicedo, Usme, Santos – Ramirez

Jamaica predicted lineup: What ‘Bunny’ Shaw can pull out of the hat?

Jamaica, currently ranked 43rd in the world by FIFA, are enjoying their 2nd World Cup so far. The Reggae Girlz became the only team in the group stage to keep clean sheets in all of their 3 games. The 0-0 draws against the strong teams of France and Brazil showed that Jamaica are very comfortable defending deep and frustrating opponents.

Still, with the team’s only goal in the 3 games scored via a set piece, the forward actions need improving. After earning their first points in World Cups this tournament now Jamaica are hungry to take the next step too and record their first knockout win.

Team news

The team’s superstar and lethal goal machine Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw is yet to have an impact this World Cup. Yes, she missed round 2 suspended but she played most of the other 2 matches without scoring. Shaw has 55 goals in 40 caps for Jamaica. She also scored 27 goals in 28 matches for Man City this season. Shaw remains the big hope up front and Jamaica will need her to start scoring again if they are to progress.

The back 4 won’t be touched after Jamaica kept 3 consecutive clean sheets. The Swaby sisters had been excellent in the heart of the defence so far. Spencer is the frontrunner for Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Here is how we think Jamaica will line up in this opening game.

Jamaica Predicted Lineups (4-4-2):

Spencer – Cameron, A. Swaby. C. Swaby, Blackwood – Matthews, Spence, Sampson, Brown – Primus, Shaw
