Chelsea to Announce Mauricio Pochettino as New Manager

asdasdfasdfasdfAfter axing Thomas Tucher and Graham Potter, and bringing in Frank Lampard to steady the ship, Todd Boehly’s Chelsea experiment will see a fourth different manager at Stamford Bridge. The Blues had extended talks with the Argentine manager and handover the reins in the summer of 2023.

The news was first reported by Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, who revealed that the terms have been agreed between Chelsea and Pochettino. Transfer and contract specialist, Fabrizio Romano shared light on the situation, stating that both parties were in advanced negotiations since April.

According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Sebastiano Pochettino will be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s backroom staff at Stamford Bridge.

In Driving Seat Since Nagelsmann’s Refusal

Despite the chaos created by Chelsea’s new owners in the transfer market and axing of two high profile managers, the best in the business have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. Luis Enrique and Julien Nagelsmann were in the forefront as Frank Lampard returned in a caretaker role.

While Lampard has been unable to convince the Chelsea hierarchy about his managerial credentials, Nagelsmann rejected the Blues’ advances. Enrique also pulled out after preference was shown to the German tactician.

It left the West Londoners in limbo, weeks after they were offering the most sought-after role. Pochettino’s history with London rivals Tottenham proved to be a stumbling block, with the Chelsea hierarchy doing their best not the alienate the fanbase.

After extensive talks and thorough sentiment analysis, negotiations with Pochettino advanced. The Blues’ continued decline under Lampard also made the case for the Argentine, who stood up to Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, despite not being backed in the same manner at White Hart Lane.
