After huge confusion and controversy, the draw for the Champions League last-16 has been completed.
It was originally all set for a reunion between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo with PSG v Manchester United. But a technical error led to the initial draw being declared void.
Now, Ronaldo’s Man Utd will take on Spanish side Atletico Madrid. PSG meanwhile have a mouthwatering clash against Real Madrid.
The tie between the French side and serial winners Madrid is undoubtedly the fixture of the round. The Spanish outfit top the list for most European Cup victories. They have 13 to their name, their last arriving in 2018. That was a 3-1 victory over Liverpool.
PSG are still searching for their first Champions League trophy. Star names Messi and Kylian Mbappe will be key to any success this season. They have five and four goals respectively so far. Karim Benzema meanwhile has managed five for Madrid this campaign.

As for Man Utd, they face a tough test in Atletico Madrid. The Spanish side finished second behind Liverpool in Group B. The Reds won both meetings between the pair. Jurgen Klopp’s men won 2-0 at Anfield and 3-2 in the Spanish capital. United go into the game having topped Group F.
Chelsea meet Lille, Liverpool face Inter
Defending champions Chelsea face a tricky test against an exciting Lille side. The French outfit topped Group G ahead of Austrian club RB Salzburg. Chelsea last met Lille in the group stages of the 2019/20 competition. The Blues won both matches 2-1, with Tammy Abraham netting on both occasions.
Klopp’s Liverpool will face Inter Milan, who are currently leading Serie A. The Italian side finished second in Group D, five points behind Real Madrid. But the Reds will be full of confidence after a stunning group stage phase. They won all six games to top Group B with ease.
Another side to win all six games were Bayern Munich. They will meet RB Salzburg. The German side, however, will be very difficult to get past.
Bayern are the competition’s top scorers so far with 22 goals. Robert Lewandowski has netted nine of those. The Germans topped Group E ahead of Benfica.
Man City meet Sporting in intriguing Champions League tie
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will meet Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon. City are desperately seeking that elusive Champions League trophy. But the Portuguese club are full of talent and confidence. They beat Borussia Dortmund to second spot in Group C behind Ajax. City topped Group A ahead of PSG.
Ajax were another side who stormed through their group. They also won all six matches, with striker Sebastien Haller the competition’s top scorer with ten. But they face a tricky test against Benfica.
Europa League holders Villarreal meanwhile will take on Juventus. The Spaniards came second in Group F, with Juve topping Group H.
The first legs will take place in mid-February, with the return legs scheduled for early March. The final is set to take place in St Petersburg, Russia, on 28 May.
