It’s set to be an exciting duel between two exciting managers, as Emery and Kompany meet for the first time in the Premier League.
The last time the two sides met in the 2021/22 season, Villa held the advantage over the Clarets in two quick succession fixtures at the end of the campaign that saw Burnley’s relegation.
At Villa Park, the side’s drew 1-1 in a game that was dominated by the hosts, retaining a mammoth 71% of the possession on the day. Burnley will be hoping for a different outcome to the one in 2022 at Turf Moor on Sunday, as the Villans were 3-1 victors on their turf last time the teams met in the top-flight.
The game will kick off at 14:00, however has not been selected to be televised.
Team news: Burnley
Burnley will be eager to play after not featuring during game week two due to Luton Town’s renovations on Kenilworth Road, with their only match so far being the opening day defeat to the treble winners.
It was difficult to analyse the Clarets on the day due to the domination of Kompany’s former side, however a challenge against Villa has the chance for the newly-promoted side to show what they’re made of.
After being sent off against City, Anass Zaroury will miss the game due to suspension. On the injury front, Michael Obafemi remains sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
There will be a chance for new signing Aaron Ramsey to make his debut for Burnley against the club he just departed, with him bidding farewell to Villa after 12 years.

After a shocking start at St James’ Park on the opening day that saw Villa thrashed 5-1 by Newcastle, Emery’s side found their feet last week at home to Everton.
The Villans won 4-0 against the Blues in a comfortable win, and were even more convincing in their return to Europe in mid-week, beating Hibernian 5-0 at Easter Road in the Europa Conference League Play offs first leg. During the fixture, Emiliano Martinez was forced to withdraw at half time due to a ‘small pain’, sparking rumours that Robin Olsen could start between the posts on Sunday.

Will Nicolo Zaniolo play today?
After a long period of speculation, Italian maestro Nicolo Zaniolo arrived on loan at Villa Park last week from Galatasaray.
The 24-year-old was unable to make his debut against Hibernian due to being ineligible as he had already featured in the qualification round of a UEFA competition with the Lions this season.
It could be time for the Italian to show his quality in the Premier League this weekend, with Emery confirming that the midfielder will be available to play.
