Brazil vs Croatia: Preview
In a game that could see the end of many international careers, including Croatian stalwarts Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic, Brazil head in as favourites after a scintillating win over South Korea in the round of 16.
Despite Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles being ruled out for the tournament, the sheer strength of the Brazilian squad meant that neither player were missed as Tite’s men blew away the South Koreans in the opening half an hour of the match.
Despite being favourites, Brazil won’t take the challenge of Croatia lightly. Their midfield trio of Modric, Kovacic and Brozovic is as good as any in the tournament and Casemiro will need to be at the very top of his game to successfully combat all three.
Aside from midfield, there is a fairly significant gulf in class between the two sides. Croatia’s front three of Perisic, who plays as a wingback for his club side, Petkovic, who plays for Dinamo Zagreb and Kramaric, who failed at Leicester City is unlikely to strike much fear into Brazil.
