The 2023/24 football season is still young – only three match days have been played and already the Bundesliga delivers its first highlight this Friday evening: Bayer Leverkusen, unbeaten this season are travelling to Munich to face Bayern, also unbeaten. Bayern vs Bayer: Predicted Line-Ups
Contents
A highlight of this magnitude on a Friday looks like a premature Christmas present. The match will kick-off at 8:30pm (CET) at the Allianz-Arena in Munich. The stadium will be sold out. The will be live on ESPN+. Bayern are favourites at the bookies.
Bayern have scored nine goals in all competitions so far this season, a tally that pales when compared to Bayer’s 19. This game could set the tone for the season: an open title race or yet another season of Bavarian dominance. Surely, the fans prefer the former.
Bayern Munich: Tuchel tidies his desk ahead of clash
Thomas Tuchel in his first season in charge at Bayern had hardly any players at his disposal and duly tidied his desk and planned parts of the season as there would not be sufficient time in the coming weeks with the Champions League starting. He is looking forward to the encounter wit Alonso whom he rates highly as a coach.
Bayern will be without Manuel Neuer and Raphael Guerreiro, but Jamal Musiala may play a part in the game. Leon Goretzka is set to start as he is in good from this early in the season. There are doubts about Joshua Kimmich and Eric Choupo-Moting. In goal Sven Ulreich is certain to play as are Kim Min-Jae and Matthijs De Ligt in defense.
Predicted Line-Up
The line-up may look as follows: Ulreich – Min-Jae, De Ligt, Mazraoui, Davies – Kimmich, Goretzka – Sané, Müller, Coman – Kane
Bayer Leverkusen: Team News
The respect between Alonso and Tuchel is mutual but the Bayer coach is also very confident that his side has a very good chance to take all three points from Munich. Yet, he knows that he and his team need to be at their best. He calmly criticised that there was not enough time to prepare after the international break. However, last season, Leverkusen came to Munich only to win the match following a Europa League encounter in Budapest.

Bayer come to Munich without striker Patrick Schick and Peiro Hincapie but Amine Adli will be available to play. Wirtz will be keen to play as will be Tella, Hofmann. Boniface up front will entertain the Bayern defense for sure while Xhaka and Palacios run the midfield. Also, Jonathan Tah and Edmond Tapsoba may feature in the starting XI.
Potential Line-Up
Hradecky – Kossounou, Tah, Tapsoba – Frimpong, Palacios, Xhaka, Grimaldo – Hofmann, Boniface, Wirtz
Will Tuchel play Kane? Or Mathys Tel?
Mathys Tel has shown some promising form and may yet be given a place in the starting XI at the expense of Harry Kane. Both are important for Bayern, Tel more so as he represents the future for the club.
This will be an exciting encounter at this early stage of the season with either team keen to keep their 100% record.
