AC Milan vs Borussia Dormund UEFA Champions League team news

The Rossoneri have run short of options in their midfield after seeing multiple key midfielders get injured at the start of the campaign. Ismael Bennacer (knee) is expected to be out until November after undergoing surgery in the summer.

Milan are also likely to be without summer signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who will be back after the international break after getting injured in their 1-0 win over Lazio recently. Rade Krunic is also injured (muscle) and both centre-backs Pierre Kalulu (muscle) as well as Mattia Caldara (ankle) are out with long-term injury troubles.

This will force Stefano Pioli to utilise his squad better and play some of the bench-warmers.

AC Milan predicted lineup vs Borussia Dortmund – Our top three

Rafael Leao – In-form Portuguese ready to torment Dortmund

AC Milan winger Rafael Leao has been the backbone of their success in the early parts of the 2023/24 season. After three goals and three assists in seven league games, he’s determined to bring that form to Europe. Leao will be marked tightly by Dortmund full-back Marius Wolf, but he knows how to lose his marker perfectly.

He’ll aim to use his electric pace and dribbling ability to storm into the key final third areas before setting up perfect chances and finishing off moves himself to finally get a goal contribution in the UCL this season.

Olivier Giroud – Milan’s striking hitman hungry for more goals

Olivier Giroud is the leading goal-scorer for the Rossoneri this season with four goals in Serie A. He aims to be that in the Champions League for them too. Giroud might face stiff competition from smart centre-backs like Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck, but he’ll aim to use experience to his advantage.

The Frenchman is a wily fox in the box, knowing exactly when to move into the key areas. He’ll look to do that to finish off chances clinically and pounce on Dortmund’s defensive errors to help Milan get a big win in Europe.

Christian Pulisic – Wing wizard eyes successful homecoming

Christian Pulisic faces off the side that gave him the limelight in Europe and is ready to play at his former home again. The USA international has settled in nicely at Milan, having four goal contributions in Serie A already.

He aims to use his unpredictable style to rattle Dortmund. Pulisic’s brilliant dribbling ability and pace are well known, which he’ll aim to use to torment the German side. He’ll need to be efficient with his final product, creating big chances with his perfect delivery and also getting into the perfect areas to finish off chances ruthlessly too.

Will Samuel Chukuwueze start against Dortmund?

AC Milan’s big summer signing Samuel Chukuwueze has produced some thrilling displays for them, but he’s unlikely to start this major game. With Pulisic and Leao both in such stunning run of form, they’re both undroppable and that means Chukuwueze can only hope to make an impact as a substitute.

AC Milan predicted lineup vs Borussia Dortmund – The Final Word

After being held to a goalless draw by Newcastle United in the previous round, AC Milan are desperate for a win. Being in the ‘group of death’, they know that every win counts. The Rossoneri will have to be much more clinical in the attack to outwit Dortmund and need a big win under their belt to save themselves from falling behind the pecking order in the group.
