3 Nottingham Forest players who could leave if club are relegated from Premier League

Nottingham Forest have gone wild in recent transfer windows, and it really hasn’t worked out as the club currently find themselves heavily involved in a relegation battle.

Their Premier League stay is under real threat, with Steve Cooper’s men rapidly running out of time to secure their safety in the competition.

The manager himself has also been under threat in the dugout, but has seemingly done enough to convince the powers that be that he is still the right man to be in charge despite the struggles.

Given how many players they have signed in recent times, it has been a real mess on the pitch, with a lack of cohesion one of the club’s issues this season.

As always with relegated teams, there will be plenty of player exits should Nottingham Forest go down, with many players keen to retain their top flight status.

That could be the story for Southampton star James Ward-Prowse and Leicester ace James Maddison, with several other players from several other sides currently in the same position.

3 Nottingham Forest players who could leave this summer

Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard only joined Nottingham Forest last summer, with the free agent signing a one-year deal at the club. But his move has not gone at all to plan, with the former Manchester United man perhaps wishing he made a return to West Ham instead after his successful loan spell there.

Despite this season’s struggles, he has been rumoured with a lifeline at a handful of clubs, with the attacker now with one final chance of resurrecting his once-promising career. Whether or not he remains in England remains to be seen, with teams in Turkey and other European leagues reportedly interested in the 30-year-old.

Brennan Johnson

Young striker Brennan Johnson has been one of the few shining lights for Nottingham Forest this season, with the 21-year-old currently on double figures for goals in all competitions. He has reportedly been catching the eye of a few Premier League clubs, clubs which would definitely be improved if Johnson joined their ranks.

The youngster has lit up the City Ground with some superb strikes, but keeping him at the club if Nottingham Forest do drop down to the Championship will be a very difficult task. As well as his club career, Johnson has an international career to think about with Wales, with his Premier League status certain to keep him in the squad for many years to come.

Morgan Gibbs-White

One of the other bright lights at the City Ground this season has been Morgan Gibbs-White, with the attacker chipping in with a handful of goals and assists to help ease the burden on Johnson. The 23-year-old has also shown his versatility by playing in various positions this season, including attacking midfield, centre forward and on both wings.

He boasts plenty of top flight experience, having previously played for Wolves in the Premier League, but he has furthered his development at Nottingham Forest and is now attracting interest from some other clubs in the division. Tottenham are reportedly one of those clubs, with the North London outfit desperate for some attacking reinforcements as they look to have a better campaign next time around.
