Canterbury Bulldogs vs Manly Sea Eagles prediction and odds: NRL 2023 Round 26

There are few dead rubber matches at this stage of the NRL, but that’s exactly what we get to begin Sunday’s double header in Round 26. With neither side capable of making the top eight, what will the Canterbury Bulldogs vs Manly Sea Eagles deliver? Read on for our Bulldogs vs Sea Eagles predictions.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Manly Sea Eagles – Match Predictions

With these two teams sitting at the wrong end of the NRL ladder, this will be a match for pride only. Here are our top predictions ahead of the Bulldogs vs Sea Eagles this Saturday:

Manly Sea Eagles to Win by 1-12 @ 2.80 (9/5)

Win or lose, the last seven Sea Eagles matches have been decided by a margin of 1-12. This includes a spread of teams–from the Panthers, through to the Dragons. Bottom line is, Manly games are tight games. They’ve struggled to put teams away, with their last 13+ victory coming in early June over the Dolphins.

We say Manly will have too much for an inconsistent Bulldogs outfit here, and still have an opportunity to salvage some pride and finish ninth on the ladder. Back the Sea Eagles to win, but again, not by much.

Total Match Points Under 48.5 @ 1.67 (4/6)

The Bulldogs are as inconsistent as it gets, having four times been held to two scores or less over the past two months. With Manly struggling to put teams away, and Canterbury’s attack misfiring, we say this will be a tight, ugly win for the Sea Eagles, that won’t threaten the 48.5 point mark.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Manly Sea Eagles preview

Heading into this match, here’s a look at how both teams’ seasons have gone so far in the NRL 2023:

Canterbury Bulldogs

More of the same for the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2023. The Dogs have seven wins and 15 losses, sitting third from the bottom in the NRL ladder. At times they’ve looked magnificent (beating the Storm 26-12), at others they’ve been woeful (losing 66-0 to the Knights). Most recently, they come into this match off the back of a loss to the Raiders, 36-24.

Manly Sea Eagles

Up until last round, Manly were still fancying their chances of a top eight finish in the NRL. However, now that they’re mathematically incapable of making the cut, the Sea Eagles will be rueing some close losses. With nine wins and 12 losses, they currently sit 12th on 25 points, having picked up a costly 32-32 draw with the Knights earlier in the season.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Manly Sea Eagles head to head

This head to head is as tight as it gets, with the Bulldogs winning 21 of the previous encounters between these two sides, and the Sea Eagles claiming 20. Most recently, the Sea Eagles picked up a big win 31-6 in early March.
