We will see a rookie starting at quarterback for New England for the first time since Drew Bledsoe did so on September 5th, 1993 at Buffalo. Unlike Bledsoe, mac Jones will look to win his first game under center in the pros as he will be facing the Miami Dolphins at home. Our experts have taken a look at the lines and the odds for the match and have come up with exclusive free picks and a best bet below. Check them out.

Our best bet on the Patriots vs Dolphins match: New England -3.0 @ -115
We are at a spot where the Patriots are somehow undervalued and overlooked. They improved dramatically over the summer by spending a record amount of money on free agents across all units. The most significant upgrade, however, happened at quarterback where we will see Mac Jones.
He fits the Patriots’ profile incredibly well and is also a bit undervalued. In reality, he beat Cam Newton straight up for the starting job and some people say that Jones actually was helping Newton learn the playbook.
The offense features an excellent offensive line, a skilled running back committee, and two strong tight ends. Not to mention the new speedy receivers. The better team is definitely the Patriots, and we are backing them at -3.0
New England vs Miami: We are also betting against Tua
Tua Tagovailoa is definitely in for a season in which he will improve his numbers. But by how much? He is only a 2nd-year quarterback and is already forced to learn a brand-new playbook. Add to that the fact that there is no experienced QB behind him in the depth chart to lean on.
Furthermore, Bill Belichick specializes against young Quarterbacks being 19-0 at home against rookies but this number is not very different when he faces 2nd-year QBs too – 21-2.
Even if Miami somehow beats New England’s defense, it would have to be on the ground. This is why we are betting Tua Tagovailoa passing yards Under 234.5 @ -120.
Players to watch in the match
Damien Harris: We will now see a backfield that features 2 Alabama prospects (Harris and Jones) and we would love to find out how well the QB-RB combo works together. Also, this will be the 1st year in which Harris will be the bell cow for Belichick and pressure will surely mount up for the young back.
Xavien Howard: regarded by many as the best cornerback in the NFL, Howard will not have to face the best wide receivers in this match. Still, it will be interesting to see against who Brian Flores will line up Howard. Or maybe the Dolphins will play zone to confuse NE’s rookie quarterback.
Bonus bets on the NE vs MIA match at hand
- Race to 25 points: Neither @ +115
- Highest scoring quarter: 4th quarter @ +220
- Mac Jones Passing yards: Under 232.5 @ -120
