Buffalo will finally be playing in front of a packed stadium at home and we are sure that the place will be buzzing against a Steelers team that is definitely beatable at home. Mike Tomlin’s side has historically dominated the Bills but if last season was any indication of something else, then the Buffalo Bills may open the 2021/2022 with a home victory. Let’s see what the odds and the betting lines say for that game.
Buffalo vs Pittsburgh: Is a spread bet worth it?
The line currently sits at BUF -6.5 at home meaning that the Bills would be favored by 3.5 or 4.0 on a neutral venue. To us, this sounds about right and it’s mainly because of the turmoil that has ensued in Pittsburgh land.
TJ Watt’s contract negotiations aren’t going as planned and he refuses to practice. The offensive line for Big Ben will feature two rookie players at center (Kendrick Green) and left tackle (Dan Moore Jr.) along with two very young guys at RT and LG. This offensive line will surely need some time to mesh a little bit.
Josh Allen went from the 24th ranked quarterback in QBR to the 4th ranked at his position last year. His accuracy has not only improved but has become deadly. Add the back stadium to the equation and we are happy to bet Buffalo to win by a touchdown at -110.
Our best bet on the Bills vs Steelers game
We are going to go with the total points Under 48.5 @ -110. Not only that the Steelers feature a young O-line but they also have a very old and injury-prone quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger. However, they got a 1st round rookie running back to help him and this is what we think the Steelers will do. They will try to establish the run, and this will shorten the game. The noise will be incredible and this will surely slow down the Steeler’s offense.
We already mentioned how good Josh Allen has gotten and he may be up for a slight regression this year after being the 5th most accurate QB last season. We are also expecting this to be the windiest game of the opening week with gusts of 13 miles/hour.
Players to watch in the BUF vs PITT match
Najee Harris: the electric running back will likely be the backbone of the Steelers’ offense this year. We still think that it’s not the best idea to draft a running back in the 1st round of the NFL draft but we will see if this one works out well. In his three seasons in Alabama, Harris averaged 6.0 yards per carry and 3843 total yards. The NFL’s defenses are definitely tougher to beat though.
Tre’Davious White: Tre’ is considered to be a top 3 cornerback in the league by many. But it would be curious to see who he’ll be covering when in man-to-man coverage. The Steelers have 3 good wide receivers and the Bills’ defensive scheme will be fun to watch.
Our bonus bets and picks on Bills vs Steelers
