Alexander Zverev vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Prediction and Odds: French Open 2023

Alexander Zverev has made it to the semifinals in his last two Roland Garros appearances and has a real chance to do the same again, but he will have to go through Thomas Martin Etcheverry to get there.

The odds in this article were correct at the time of writing, and the odds are subject to change. We recommend checking with the bookmaker before placing the bet.

Alexander Zverev vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry – Match Predictions

Alexander Zverev -3.5 games

Zverev was not among the top favorites at the French Open going into the tournament but the way he plays, now he looks like a real contender. He has a major experience despite the fact that he is still going after his first Grand Slam title. That is a huge advantage over Etcheverry who has never made a top-level success and his Roland Garros journey will end here. Zverev is simply on another level and he will win this by covering the -3.5 games spread.

Over 36.5 games

Etcheverry did not lose a set in the previous four matches at the Roland Garros and he will definitely seek his chance in this one as well. Regardless of the fact that Zverev is a major favorite in this one, we believe that Etcheverry will be able to stay long in the match and that the match will go over 36.5 games overall.

Alexander Zverev vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Preview

Zverev is finally back in full shape and he has a solid chance to get back to the semifinals as he faces Etcheverry in the quarterfinal.

Alexander Zverev

Zverev is finally fully back after he twisted his ankle last year at the Roland Garros. The German is currently 27th in the rankings and was at no. 2 prior to the injury. Zverev is 20-14 for the season and 12-5 on clay. On his way to the quarterfinals, he lost only one set. In the opening round, Zverev defeated Lloyd Harris 7-6, 7-6, 6-1, and in the second one, he was better than Alex Molcan 6-4, 6-2, 6-1. Frances Tiafoe won the opening set in the third round, but the German turned things around for a final 3-6, 7-6, 6-1, 4-6. In the last round, Zverev dominated Grigor Dimitrov winning 6-1, 6-4, 6-3. Zverev’s best result this season was the semifinal in Dubai where he lost to Andrey Rublev in straight sets.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry

The Argentinian is the breakthrough star of this year’s French Open. He came into the tournament as the world no. 49, never previously winning a match at the Roland Garros main draw. A week and a half later, Etcheverry is in the quarterfinals. On his way to get there, he won four matches without dropping a single set. In the opening round, Jack Draper retired in the second set and Alex de Minaur, Borna Coric and Yohishito Nihioka stood no chance against him. Besides this, Etcheverry’s best results this season were the finals in Bordeaux, Houston and Santiago. He has a 26-14 record for the year and 22-10 on clay.
