Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud will go against each other in the 2023 French Open final, battling for the title and hefty prize money.

2022 Masters Cup Final, Djokovic vs Ruud 7-5, 6-3
The last time Djokovic and Ruud met was at the 2022 Masters Cup Final in Turin. Djokovic was the one who had bumps in the road to the final. He needed two tie-breaks to defeat Taylor Fritz in the semifinal and previously beat Daniil Medvedev in the decisive tie-break. Ruud had a great tournament losing only one set on his way to the final, defeating Andrey Rublev in the semifinals by 6-2, 6-4. In the final, Djokovic had no mercy and defeated Ruud for the fourth time tying Roger Federer with 6 Masters Cup titles.
2022 ATP Rome Semifinal, Djokovic vs Ruud 6-4, 6-3
Two years after their first match, Djokovic and Ruud met again in the semifinals in Rome. Now the Norwegian was already established as a real contender at the ATP tour but that didn’t made any difference. Djokovic started the match with a 4-0 lead and Ruud did not manage to come back. This was a special win for Djokovic who reached the milestone of 1,000 wins on the tour. In the final, Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas to win a record 38th ATP Masters title.
2021 Masters Cup, Djokovic vs Ruud 7-6, 6-2
Djokovic and Ruud found themselves in the Green Group of the 2021 Masters Cup. Djokovic won the opening match 7-6, 6-2 against Ruud. Ruud was the one who broke the serve first but Djokovic managed to come back and win the first set tie-break by 7-4. That was the key moment of the match as Ruud was not even close to winning the next set. Djokovic also defeated Andrey Rublev and Cameron Norrie in the group stage before losing to Alexander Zverev in the semifinal.
2020 ATP Rome Semifinal, Djokovic vs Ruud 7-5, 6-3
Shortly after Djokovic was disqualified from the US Open he continued his season in Rome. He had a lot to prove in the tournament he already won 4 times before. He had no major problems to make it to the semifinals losing only one set on the way. Ruud, who was only 21-years-old at the time, had an excellent tournament defeating Matteo Berrettini in the decisive tie-break in the quarterfinal after previously going past Marin Cilic, Lorenzo Sonego and Karen Khachanov. Ruud played pretty well and managed to make one break during the match but still, Djokovic won at the end. The Serbian ended up winning his fifth title in Rome defeating Diego Schwartzman in the final.
