All roads lead to Beijing as the China Open kicks off this week. Despite being a 500 level event, this is a stacked tournament. As a matter of fact, the right seeds are all ranked inside the ATP top 10. In this article, we’ll provide our ATP China Open predictions, which will be updated each day.
ATP China Open tips – Carlos Alcaraz to win outright @ 13/10 (2.30)
Contents
We would like to point out that the most successful player in the history of this tournament is Novak Djokovic. The Serb is a six-time champion, with all six titles coming in the space of seven years. That said, the 24 time grand slam champion is one of two top 10 players that won’t participate in this year’s event.
On that note, our pick for the title is Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard has been one of the most consistent players on the ATP Tour this year. He has reached more finals, and won more titles than every other player on the tour in 2023. Alcaraz will face some stiff competition from some of the best players in the world, but we believe he’ll win his first Beijing Open title at the end of this week.
ATP China Open picks – day 5
There are a few matches scheduled for today, and these are some of our favourite predictions:
Ugo Humbert vs Daniil Medvedev – Humbert to win a set @ 5/4 (2.25)
We would like to point out that Ugo Humbert is coming off three consecutive victories over some top players; as he defeated Cameron Norrie, Lorenzo Sonego and Andrey Rublev in his last three matches. Despite being the underdog in today’s match, the French player has also held his own against Daniil Medvedev in the past; he has two wins in as many encounters with the Russian player. Although Daniil Medvedev has eight wins in his last nine matches, we are fairly confident that Humbert will do just enough to take at least one set.
Alexander Zverev vs Nicolas Jarry – Jarry to win a set @ 8/11 (1.73)
We would like to point out that Nicolas Jarry kicked off his China Open campaign with an impressive victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Chilean will square off against Alexander Zverev for the sixth time in his career today. Jarry has done fairly well against Zverev in the past; he has two wins in five previous clashes with the German, including the Geneva Open a few months ago. Although Alexander Zverev is currently on a six-match winning streak, he surrendered at least one set in his last three matches. For this reason, we believe there’s a lot of value in backing Nicolas Jarry not to go down in straight sets.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud – Ruud +5.5 games @ 1/2 (1.50)
As it stands, Carlos Alcaraz has seven wins in his last eight singles matches, and four of his last five victories came in straight sets. However, the Spaniard suffered a straight sets loss the last time he squared off against Casper Ruud; he dropped at least one set in the last two clashes between these players. Given that Ruud surrendered just a set in his last three matches, we believe he’ll do just enough to cover +5.5 games.
