The 2023 NBA Draft is shaping up to be an exciting one with the entire league on a hype alert as the French prodigy Victor Wembanyama is about to enter the league. He is by far not the only talented youngster that will land in the NBA this season though. Below, we look in greater detail at the impressive Brandon Miller, who on any other year would have been a strong candidate for the No. 1 overall pick.
Brandon Miller Draft Profile

Brandon Miller Alabama days showed that he is ready to hit the big stage. Miller went for 20+ points in 14 of his 37 games for Alabama. He has the size and mobility to compete successfully against most NBA wings. We firmly believe that Miller is ready for a starting role in almost every NBA team. He is also capable of playing significant minutes straight away as he proved with his average 32.7 minutes per game for Alabama this season.
Brandon Miller Overview
Brandon Miller is seen as the best 1-and-done wing among the entire 2023 class. Miller is exactly the type of wing so much south after by the modern NBA. During his only year in college, he shot 38.4% from the three-point line, 43.0% from the field and 85.9% from the free-throw line.
In 37 games for Alabama Miller averaged 18.8 points and 4 times he went for 30 or more. He scored 41 points against South Caroline in February and when Miller’s shot is falling it is almost impossible to stop him. Miller also proved to be a pretty capable defender and he averaged 0.9 blocks and 0.9 steals per game.
At the end of his only season at the college level, Brandon Miller was named the SEC Player of the Year, SEC Freshman of the Year, SEC Tournament MVP and a consensus All-American. Clearly, Miller is ready to enter the NBA and he already looks like a player that has everything needed to succeed.
Concerns
The main concern we have regarding Brandon Miller is his lean physic. Weighing only 200 pounds (100 kg) Miller might find it hard against the much bigger and heavier small forwards in the NBA. Still, Miller put on extra 10 pounds just within the last year so this is optimistic.
The other concern must be Miller’s displays during the 3 games of the NCAA Tournament. Despite Alabama entering the Sweet 16 as the top overall seed they were knocked out after just 3 games with Miller a major reason why that happened. Brandon shot just 19% from the field during these 3 matches, the worst percentage by a player with 35 shots or more since 1985. In the elimination game vs San Diego Miller shot just 3-19 from the floor.
NBA Draft Projection
We believe that Brandon Miller is destined for a great NBA career and he looks certain to be selected 2nd or 3rd. He will fit very well both with the Hornets and the Trailblazers.
