Our Outright Prediction: Wellington @ 11/2 (6.50)

Coming from Hong Kong, Wellington has grabbed the spotlight and appears as our outright winner for the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. Wellington, a six-year-old sprinter trained by Richard Gibson, won his first Group One in the 2021 Chairman’s Sprint and followed this up with a successful defence of his crown in 2022.

Despite losing out to Lucky Sweynesse in multiple races during the regular 2022/23 season, Wellington proved his mettle by outperforming the world’s highest-rated sprinter in the Premier Bowl Handicap and the Group One Hong Kong Sprint in December.

Although the Australian sprinters, including Wellington, are not used to running at this time of the year due to the main season in Hong Kong running between October and April, Gibson’s return to his home soil, indicated by his decision to not renew his license in Hong Kong, signifies his intention to ensure Wellington’s success in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. The selection of Ryan Moore as the rider also underscores the seriousness of the team in claiming the top spot.

Our Each-Way Prediction: Al Suhail (each-way) @ 14/1 (15.00)

At 14/1 odds, Al Suhail is one of the outsiders in the race and while we don’t necessarily see this horse winning the race, we can certainly see him pushing for it and that’s why an each-way bet on Al Suhail might be worth it.

We like the Charlie Appleby runner for many reasons, including the fact that he was a close third in Dubai and that he’s been in good form for a while now. On top of that, the six-year-old has placed at Ascot at Group level before, so we wouldn’t be too surprised if he does well in this race under William Buick.

Our Dark Horse Prediction: Rohaan @ 9/1 (10.00)

When it comes to Dark Horses, you might not view Rohaan as one given that this horse is a real Ascot specialist, but he is not among the main candidates to win and thus emerges as a solid choice if you’re looking for high odds. Trained by David Evans and ridden by Adam Kirby, Rohaan has exhibited consistency and skill on the Ascot track. He has to his credit victories in the Wokingham twice, the Pavillion Stakes, and the Bengough Stakes.

Rohaan may not have made a stellar reappearance at Salisbury, but he has been preparing specifically for the Group One event at Ascot throughout the winter. Given his commendable track record at Ascot and the possibility of him making it three-from-three at the Royal meeting, Rohaan is an enticing sleeper bet.

General Betting Tips for Horse Racing

Betting in horse racing involves more than just selecting a favorite. It’s essential to understand the form of the horses, take into account recent performances, changes in jockeys, and even the weather conditions on the day of the race.

Moreover, always remember to bet responsibly. Set a budget and stick to it. The thrill of horse racing lies in the excitement and unpredictability of the races, not in reckless gambling.
