Thursday’s card at Newmarket Racecourse ought to be a fine one, with several top races taking place. One of the best races, certainly from a betting point of view, will be the Bet365 Handicap Stakes.
The Bet365 Handicap will be run over a sharp six furlongs, meaning that horses need plenty of speed to win this race. In the early betting on the morning of the race, Washington Heights is a narrow favourite. Can the Aidan O’Brien runner finally end his run of seconds in the hands of Ryan Moore?

Here are our tips for the Bet365 Handicap Stakes:
Our Best Prediction: Eminency (each-way) @ 12/1
There’s plenty to like about Eminency, who runs for trainer George Cox in the hands of John Fahy. This lightly raced and less-than-exposed type has certainly been moving in the right direction of late. Yet to win, the colt finished less than two lengths behind Quinalt in third over course and distance back in May, before again finishing behind the same horse when fourth in a big-field handicap at York last time out. He ran on well that occasion and is now much better off at the weights with that rival, so don’t be surprised if he reverses the form. Has the form to feature prominently, while first-time cheek pieces could spark that bit more.
Our Each Way Prediction: Redemption Time (each-way) @ 25/1
This horse looked like a useful prospect when winning at Bath on just his third start, and although he hasn’t won since, he remains with potential. There was little wrong with his fast-finishing third over five furlongs at York back in May, while he performed credibly at that venue over this distance last time out, finishing sixth in that 21-runner handicap won by the re-opposing Quinalt. Like the runner above, her’s now better off at the weights with that rival.
Also trained by George Cox, he wasn’t terribly well placed on that occasion, so if he can get a bit nearer here, then he’d have a solid chance of getting involved near the line, especially since he’s running from the same mark. Do not discount, despite the big odds.
Our Dark Horse Prediction: Ferrous (each-way) @ 25/1
Jack Channon’s colt doesn’t bring to the table the level of form that many others do here, but he’s nicely weighted down at the bottom, while some of his efforts suggest that he’s worth a crack at this level. After all, he won over five furlongs in good style at Goodwood, and he posted an impressive figure on the clock in doing so. That suggests that he could make his presence felt at this level should things go his way. After all, his staying on effort over five last time out pointed towards the step back up in trip being a positive.
