Remember the 2022 Grand National? As we all expected, the race was a thriller. Yet not many of us would have predicted a Noble Yeats victory at a price of 50/1. Then again, these kinds of things can happen in one of the world’s biggest horse races. As for the Any Second Now odds, these have shortened in recent days since many top punters have put this horse down to win.
Here are the odds for this horse as things currently stand:
- Ladbrokes – 12/1
- Betfred – 16/1
- William Hill – 16/1
As you can see from this shortlist, the Any Second Now odds are immensely attractive at both Betfred and William Hill. Given that this horse was the runner-up in the 2022 Grand National, it seems almost crazy that this horse is only just scraping into the top five favourites pool. After all, if a horse has done it before, there’s always a chance that it can do it again.
With that said, let’s take a closer look at this horse to determine why the odds are down at 12/1 and 16/1 at my recommended betting sites.
An Explanation for the 12/1 Any Second Now Odds
Contents
As referenced above, the 12/1 odds put Any Second Now narrowly inside the top five favourites group. In fact, he is accompanied by several other top contenders at this price, including The Big Dog and the 2022 champion, Noble Yeats. So – what’s behind the odds?
2022 Grand National Runner-Up
Perhaps the most influential element of them all is Any Second Now’s performance at Aintree last year. He was magnificent in the 2022 Grand National and had a very realistic shot of finishing first on the day. Of course, Noble Yeats ultimately beat him, but there wasn’t much in it. Furthermore, Mark Walsh will be in the saddle today, just as he was in the 2022 event.
It’s always good to see that a horse has been competing in the build-up to the Grand National. Not only does this keep the horse fine-tuned and competition ready, but it gives punters an idea of how this horse is running too. And in the case of Any Second Now, things look promising. He was in action at Navan just last month, and he took home a victory – beating a few top-level horses in the process.
Therefore, Any Second Now comes into the Grand National off the back of a very good victory.
Should You Wager on This Horse Given the Any Second Now Odds?
Time for the million-dollar question – based on the Any Second Now odds I’ve showcased here, is it worth taking a punt on this horse? In my opinion, yes, absolutely. Not only is this horse in good form, but he has competed in the Grand National twice. In 2021 he finished 3rd, and in 2022 he finished 2nd. So, in 2023, could he do one better for the third time running? He sure could.
Plus, the 12/1 odds at Ladbrokes and 16/1 odds at other bookmakers make this selection all the more enticing. But he does face stiff competition today, as you’d expect.
