Can Pakistan continue their winning momentum as they look to avenge their Asia Cup 2023 defeat to Sri Lanka recently?
First Prediction: Pakistan to win: 4/9 (1.44)
While Sri Lanka did overcome Pakistan in the recent Asia Cup, that was a Pakistani team which was recovering from some fitness-related concerns and played well within themselves. They are back to their near-best and will look to dominate Sri Lanka from the word go.
Second Prediction: Top Pakistan Batsman – Babar Azam: 5/2 (3.5)
Babar Azam did not have a great first game but cannot keep a quality player like him down for a long time. Backing him to come good against Sri Lanka having scored 525 ODI runs against them at an average of 58.33

PAK vs SL – Sri Lanka hoping to open their account
While on the one hand Pakistan will be gunning for their second win in a row to get their campaign off to a flying start, Sri Lanka are hoping they can shrug off the crushing South Africa defeat in their opener.
Pakistan
Pakistan might not have had the strongest of starts in their opening match against Netherlands but they recovered well to post a more than competitive 286.
And then it was down to their bowling which struck gold throughout the Dutch chase to clinch the win by 81 runs. They will look for something similar against their Asian rivals.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka will need to take a hard look at the way they bowled in their first 2023 World Cup encounter against South Africa. Sure, it was a flat pitch in Delhi but to concede 428 for five was a pointer to a rather docile Lankan bowling.
The only silver lining came in the form of their chase in which Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and captain Dasun Shanaka helped themselves to quick half-centuries.
Pakistan vs Sri Lanka h2h score
It’s been a rather one-sided overall rivalry with Pakistan winning 92 and losing just 59 matches to Sri Lanka.
The more interesting bit is the fact that they have faced off just once in the last four years and that came in the Asia Cup last month where Sri Lanka shocked Pakistan on their way to the final.
Why shocked? Because in the eight previous completed ODIs between these two teams going back to 2017, Pakistan had won all eight.
Pitch report and weather conditions
Hyderabad will be hot and humid throughout the day before turning into a cooler evening but the bigger question is how the pitch will behave after having seen a couple of matches in five days and with New Zealand taking on Netherlands only a few hours before that.
We could see the ball slowing down off the pitch and that could make for a lower-scoring match than usual.
