In what will be the sixth match of the 2023 World Cup, Netherlands will take on New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. This match, played on Monday, October 9 will be the second for both teams.

Our top Netherlands vs New Zealand predictions

With New Zealand having gotten off to a flying start and taking on the qualifiers Netherlands in their second match, it won’t be a surprise to see them exert their dominance yet again. Can the spirited Dutch thwart the Kiwis in this?

First Prediction: Top home batsman – Devon Conway: 5/2 (3.5)

After the kind of rollicking start that Devon Conway gave New Zealand in the first match and that, against a bowling attack consisting of a plethora of quality bowlers, it seems very likely he will continue to pillage the lesser quality bowling attack of Netherlands. Expecting another big score off his bat here.

Second Prediction: Team of top batsman – New Zealand: 4/9 (1.44)

While Netherlands have the ability with the bat, having shown what they can do in the World Cup qualifiers, the disciplined New Zealand attack might be too much for them to handle. On the other hand, the Kiwi batsmen have already shown the ability to go big and can be expected to have a top-scorer in their midst.

NETH vs NZ – New Zealand have a chance to make it two in two

New Zealand will be looking to go to the top of the table with a second win in as many matches as they take on the qualifiers Netherlands in the sixth game of this competition.

Netherlands

Netherlands put up a solid fight with the ball in their opener against Pakistan but were found wanting in their batting as they fell to an 81-run defeat at the hands of their opponents. Bas de Leede was one of the few sparks in the Netherlands side as he picked up four wickets and the made 67 while batting.

New Zealand

The kind of spark that New Zealand showed in the opener in the absence of their regular captain Kane Williamson made for a jaw-dropping viewing.

To restrict a powerful England batting to 282/9 was a job well done by Matt Henry and Mitchell Santner but to then chase that down in 36.2 overs for the loss of just one wicket was simply extraordinary.

Netherlands vs New Zealand h2h score

There have been four previous meetings between these two sides having first faced off at the 1996 World Cup. New Zealand have won them all. Other than that 1996 encounter, the two were involved in a three-match ODI series in New Zealand last year which the hosts won 3-0.

Pitch report and weather conditions

Like was the case for the first match played in Hyderabad between Pakistan and Netherlands, the weather isn’t going to let up too much. Hot and humid as usual.

Despite Netherlands’ inability to chase down Pakistan’s score in the first match here, it would make more sense to chase again, especially after New Zealand showed what can be done with the bat while chasing under lights against England.
