Gervonta Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia Lightweight Title Fight | Betting Preview and Prediction

Boxing is well and truly back for the year, with two undefeated boxers stepping into the ring together this weekend. On Saturday night at the Capital One Arena in Washington, either Gervonta Davis will defend his WBA Regular Lightweight belt, or Hector Luis Garcia will become the new champion. We look at the best bets to be made on this fight, and preview the bookies’ odds.

Gervonta Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia Odds

Here’s a look at how the bookies are calling this fight ahead of Saturday night:

  • Gervonta Davis to win @ 1/14 (1.07)
  • Hector Luis Garcia to win @ 7/1 (8.00)

This may seem like a tantalising contest on paper, but the reality is this should be nothing more than a heavy spar for the current champion Gervonta Davis. The American is a three weight-class champion, and should be leagues above his challenger Garcia. As a result, bookies have this fight overwhelmingly in favor of Gervonta Davis, with odds of 1/14 (1.07) for the current WBA Regular Lightweight champion to retain his belt, while for the challenger Hector Luis Garcia to win, the odds are almost as long as it gets in boxing at 7/1 (8.00).

Regardless of the discrepancy in outright odds, there are still some great bets to be made on this fight, which we’ll highlight in our betting preview below.

Best Gervonta Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia Betting Tips

Those looking to put some money on this fight will want to consider the following two bets, depending on the level of risk you’re looking for in your bets:

Davis to Win by Knockout @ 2/7 (1.28)

Since debuting as a professional a decade ago, Davis has won belts in three different weight classes. However, this is not the most impressive part of his career. By far the most notable feature of the 27-year-old’s career so far is that fact that in ten years and 27 fights, only two men have stepped into the ring with Gervonta Davis and gone the distance.

Davis has distinguished himself as one of the most elite knockout artists in all of boxing, with a 93% knockout rate and 25 KOs to his name. Given that Hector Luis Garcia is stepping up a weight class, and Davis is the defending champion, it’s hard to see this fight ending any way other than a knockout in favour of Davis. The return here is humble at 2/7 (1.28), however it’s a solid bet to place nonetheless.

Gervonta Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia

Davis to Win Round 1-3 @ 7/1 (8.00)

It’s highly likely that this fight ends with Garcia on the canvas, however when this happens is another question. Most bookies, including William Hill, offer round grouped betting, and this can be a very lucrative proposition bet to make on this fight.

The highest odds for all of the rounds groupings available are for a Davis knockout to happen in Round 1-3. Essentially, bookie believe that this is the least likely time for Davis to score a knockout, and so are willing to pay out 7/1 (8.00) as a result if it happens. However, over the past seven years, Davis has won within the first three rounds 40% of the time. Six times in his last 14 fights he’s executed a quick knockout. While the American has not done so since 2019, this could indicate that he’s lost his touch—or, that he’s overdue for a fast start, and will produce one this weekend.

We say Davis will come out firing and prove to the boxing world that he’s still got what it takes to dominate opposition by knocking out Garcia early.
