After almost six weeks and 44 matches, we find ourselves at the semi-final stage of the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Argentina, New Zealand, South Africa and England have all made it this far, with these four duking it out in the semi-finals this weekend for a spot in next weekend’s final Here at Pundit Feed we love betting on all things rugby, so here are our top Rugby World Cup tips today:

Prediction 1: Argentina +18 handicap against New Zealand @ 1/1 (2.00)

Here’s the thing: we expect New Zealand to win this match. Take any New Zealand vs Argentina match at random, and chances are it’s a one-sided affair in favour of the Kiwis. However, we need to take into account the context of this weekend.

New Zealand are coming into this semi-final off the back of what essentially could have been the Rugby World Cup final. Their effort to defeat the world No 1 Ireland was gargantuan, and there’s no doubt it will have taken a lot out of them. For all the talk of not taking this weekend for granted and what not, the reality is the All Blacks will be expecting to coast through this one, with an eye on the final next weekend already.

While we don’t think this will be enough to lead to a New Zealand upset, we do think it’ll make this match closer than it otherwise would be on paper. Expect Argentina to scrap into the +18 handicap here.

Prediction 2: Total points under 48 @ 1/1 (2.00)

With the emotional hangover of last weekend, it would be no surprise if New Zealand’s rugby is several notches lower than it was against Ireland. Again, we don’t think that will be enough to see them upset, however, it could lead to a somewhat dour, low scoring match. We know that Argentina like to take their points from anywhere on the park with Boffelli’s big boot, so chances are they won’t be bounding forward in multiples of seven either. 

Prediction 3: Argentina/New Zealand Half-time/Full-time @ 6/1 (7.00)

This is a bit of a riskier bet, but if New Zealand come out and make a sleepy start to this Test (see: all of our points above), then there’s a world where Argentina heads into the sheds ahead. It’s less likely, however, with a return of 6/1 (7.00), feels like a handy wager to take for those looking to make some high return punts on the Rugby World Cup this weekend.
