The Broncos have been pacesetters all year in the NRL, while New Zealand have consistently proven themselves to be a different side to previous years. Here are our top predictions of what will happen when the Broncos and Warriors clash this weekend:
Brisbane Broncos to win 1-12 @ 3.00 (2/1)
In the weekend’s second preliminary final, the New Zealand Warriors head to Brisbane in an attempt to dethrone the Broncos. With Brisbane being pacer-setters all season, and New Zealand struggling to defeat good sides away from home (see: week one of the NRL finals), it’s hard to see the Kiwis keeping their fairytale season alive here.

However, they’re a quality outfit with Shaun Johnson in charge, and will undoubtedly empty the tank at Suncorp in pursuit of their first Grand Final appearance in 12 years. The Warriors having their noses ahead at half time is not at all unrealistic, and would bring a healthy 7.00 (6/1) return if it were to be the case.

Brisbane Broncos
It’s been a red-hot season for the Broncos, who were unlucky not to finish the year Minor Premiers after sitting top of the NRL ladder for the majority of the season. As the second-placed side in 2023, the Broncos faced the Melbourne Storm in the opening week of the finals, and absolutely trounced their rivals, putting to bed a losing streak overall against Melbourne, plus in Suncorp. Now, they’re looking to book their spot in the Grand Final, against the only side that has kept up with them this year, the Penrith Panthers.
New Zealand Warriors
It’s been a breakout year for the Warriors, who have been part of a chasing pack keeping Penrith and Brisbane accountable at the top of the table. Finishing fourth, they had a disappointing first week of the finals, losing badly to the Panthers in the absence of Shaun Johnson. However, they triumphantly returned to form last weekend against the Newcastle Knights, putting on a 40-10 exhibition in front of their home fans. Now, their first Grand Final in 12 years is just a match away.
Brisbane Broncos vs New Zealand Warriors head to head
These two teams share a healthy rivalry, with the Broncos leading 26-20 in the overall head to head, with one draw. Most recently, Brisbane won a tight 26-22 encounter in Napier in May 2023.
