Telstar

Telstar has only three foreign players in its squad which is one of the lowest numbers in both of the top Dutch leagues. They try to grow players by attracting young talent through their community scouting and then developing them for further benefit. That hasn’t worked in sense of their success in the Second Division this season. They are only five points away from the top eight spots which would take them into the playoffs for the promotion to Eredivisie, but their form, or rather lack of it, doesn’t make that a realistic goal. Especially when it comes to their efficiency. They are the third-worst team in the league scoring-wise, they got only 15 goals in 16 matches which is below any league standard. They didn’t allow that many goals, in contrast, only 23 which doesn’t seem all that bad considering their league position. However, with only four wins this season, things need to improve for the betterment of the young players.

Den Bosch

The visitors have the same amount of points with 16, but with a much better goalscoring record. They are one of those teams whose goal is to score more than their opponent, without thinking about the defensive part of the game. That is most likely the main reason why they are not better placed within the rankings. In their last ten games, Den Bosch played an ‘under’ game only once, and that was a 2-0 defeat to Venlo in their last match before the World Cup break. They did have a solid run of positive results before that happened, so they were disappointed with that home loss under those circumstances. Joey Konings was their big signing during the past summer from De Graafschap, and he proved his worth by scoring six goals. He will lead their attack once again which is great news for the visitors, while defender Jordy van der Winden is out with an injury.
