Our Preview of Super Bowl LV: How are the Chiefs and Buccaneers performing?

Kansas City Chiefs

Obviously, both teams are performing well but we cannot say they are exceeding expectations. This is because both franchises were built to win the Super Bowl this season and few are surprised that these are the two finalists. Well, The Bucs were not a heavy favorite to make it to the Super Bowl after having to play 3 away playoff games and face the likes of Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers but because of Tom Brady alone, a Super Bowl run is always possible.

Should the Buccaneers be the underdog here?

Speaking of Brady, he will play in his whopping 10th career Super Bowl – an achievement that is unlikely to be matched by anyone in our lifetime. The Bucs dealt with two very tough opponents in the playoffs and we see no reason why they can’t beat the Chiefs who’s defense is definitely not among the league’s elite.

What’s interesting is that in all three playoff games this season, Tampa Bay scored 30+ points. Such productivity may be just enough to stave off the Chiefs and go home with the Lombardi Trophy. Well, actually to stay home, because the game is taking place in Tampa.

The current line for the game is Chiefs -3.0 @ evens. Nobody can convince us that one of the teams should be an underdog. If you are going to bet the spread, we strongly recommend you go with the +3.

The Chiefs’ high-octane offense would be the reason they win

Let’s face it, even if the Chiefs are able to force some turnovers, they will need their offense to score in bunches. We know that it’s only a matter of time before Brady and company put up a few scores. Luckily for Kansas City fans, their team specializes in coming back to win games.

Last year, the Chiefs snagged the Super Bowl trophy by winning all 3 of their playoff games after coming from behind. They even trailed by 10 points in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl but two quick touchdowns decided the match in their favor. This could very well be the case this year as we know that this team can dial it up in an instant and blow you out of the water.

The Chiefs’ backfield will be healthy, and Sammy Watkins will also play. Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes will have every play in the book at their disposal.

Our top 3 betting predictions on Super Bowl LV

Everything that we have said above has led us to the following three free NFL pickson the 2021 Super Bowl.

  • 1st half 2-way: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2.5 @ 10/11
  • Player Passing yards: Patrick Mahomes Over 333.5 yards @ 5/6
  • Team with highest scoring quarter: KC Chiefs @ 7/10

All three of our Superbowl betting tips are somewhat correlated and you will now see how.

1st half 2-way: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2.5 @ 10/11

The trend for the Chiefs to start playoff games slow should continue here too. The team is not concerned about playing with a lead. In the AFC Championship game, they trailed the Bills 0-9 only to suddenly lead 21-9 and eventually win the game decisively.

The Bucs are a team that does it the other way around. The Bruce Arians’ ‘’no risk it, no biscuit’’ offense consists of vertical passes and chunks of yards. Tampa will also play at home and will look to start the game strong. Arians is the type of coach who will not save his best plays for last. We expect the Bucs to even have the lead at half-time, hence, this is our top pick for the Super Bowl.

Player Passing yards: Patrick Mahomes Over 333.5 yards @ 5/6

Exactly because Tampa bay may end up leading during half of the match, we expect Mahomes to really air it out. We know for sure that Andy Reid won’t be conservative with the playcalling especially if his team is trailing. 334 yards is not a big thing in the league anymore and if Mahomes is going to pass like crazy in a game, what better opportunity to do so than the Super Bowl.

Team with highest scoring quarter: KC Chiefs @ 7/10

Our third pick is related to the Chiefs possibly playing from behind. We also know that they can put up points in bunches. If the Bucs can build any sort of lead, we can safely expect to see the Chiefs make a huge push to even the score and take the lead. This usually means scoring 2-3 touchdowns in one quarter as we have often seen. The odds are good and this market gives us excellent value.
