Royal Ascot Betting Tips 2024
Within a matter of days, yet another exciting series of major races will frequent the Ascot Racecourse. And just like every other year, this festival promises to be a thriller, with some serious horses and jockeys scheduled to come and compete. Keeping in line with the spirit of watching such major events on the horse racing calendar, we’ve put together some Royal Ascot betting tips which we feel could come through for the mentioned events. Here are our three best tips below:
- Gold Cup – Stradivarius to win – 1.90 – bet365
- King’s Stand Stakes – Battaash to win – 2.75 – Paddy Power
- Diamond Jubilee Stakes – Starman to win – 3.75 – William Hill
As you can see above, we’ve provided the odds that each respective bookmaker is offering for that selected market. However, over the coming days, these odds will inevitably change, so do visit each bookmaker’s site to see the latest odds before placing your bet. With that out of the way, we’d like to give a quick breakdown of why we’ve picked these markets.
Gold Cup – Stradivarius to win
The Gold Cup is always the most prestigious race during the Royal Ascot festival, and for Stradivarius, the 2021 Gold Cup presents the chance to win four on the bounce. This would be a remarkable achievement, and since we feel that this horse is head and shoulders above the rest, we truly believe Stradivarius will take the win.
King’s Stand Stakes – Battaash to win
Battaash has actually been injured throughout the winter months, but since this horse did manage to storm the track last year, it’s clear that the horse is well suited for this one. Not only is Battaash a powerful horse down the finishing straight, but at 2.75 odds, this is a wager that is almost too good to pass up on.
Diamond Jubilee Stakes – Starman to win
For our final Grade 1 race, we are shooting for Starman to cross the finish line in first position. Having won the recent Duke of York race, Starman is clearly in good form, and despite the competitive line-up – we still feel the horse has enough in the tank to take the victory here.

Royal Ascot Outright Betting
Over the course of the five day Royal Ascot festival, there are plenty of races scheduled to take place. As it happens, there are eight different Grade 1 races, which are naturally the most prestigious events, but there are many others too. But regardless of which race you are looking to bet on, there are a series of alternative outright markets you could take advantage of – not just the ones mentioned in our Royal Ascot betting tips above. Here are some of the more common outright options you may also want to consider for this festival below.
Keep in mind that with horse racing events, you typically can’t make outright bets in a similar fashion to other sports such as tennis and football. Therefore, we figured we’d provide you with some bonus Royal Ascot betting tips for the other Grade 1 races.
The St James’s Palace Stakes
This huge race will be held at the end of day 1, which is on Tuesday, June 15th. And since the race is only open to three-year-old horses, there are always fresh faces for when this race rolls around. On that note, looking at the horses that are scheduled to compete in this one, it’s hard to find a better outright option than Poetic Flare. This horse is currently listed at odds of 4.00 at most bookmakers, but there is also some serious competition coming from Mostahdaf too, at 5.00 odds. This one really could be a toss-up, so if you wanted to play things a little ‘safer’, you could always go for an each-way bet on either of these horses too.
The Prince of Wales’s Stakes
This race is scheduled for the second of the Royal Ascot event, on Wednesday, June 16th at 4:15 pm. Sure, the number of races competing is nothing like some of the other Grade 1 events, but it’s a contest that never fails to deliver on excitement. Looking at the form book, we would have to go for Lord North if we had to provide some Royal Ascot betting tips on who could cross the line in first position. Then again, other horses including Armory and Love could easily snatch the win, which is again, where an each-way or ‘to place’ bet could serve you well.
The Commonwealth Cup
This is actually one of our favourite Royal Ascot betting tips for this years’ event, as Campanelle, our predicted winner, has odds floating around the 5.00 right now. This is incredible value considering the likelihood that this horse will finish first, especially when you consider that this horse won the Queen Mary Stakes last year. It’s clear that Campanelle is a horse that delivers when it comes to race day, and given that the Commonwealth Cup is just a 6-furlong dash, when you look at the strength of this horse compared to the others – it’s one that has the ability to flick a switch and tear up the track!
The Coronation Stakes
In yet another Grade 1 race scheduled during the Royal Ascot, The Coronation Stakes will see three red-hot favourites battle things out for the win. Currently, these three horses include Mother Earth, Empress Josephine, and Primo Bacio. Each has very similar odds to get the win at most bookmakers, and to be perfectly honest, they could all win. So rather than play risky and place a wager with the sheer hope that your selected will pull through, we’d prefer to go for an each-way bet on either of these three horses, as we can’t really see any of the other horses causing a problem for these three gladiators.
The Queen Anne Stakes
To kick off the entire Royal Ascot event, the Queen Anne Stakes is always the race that sets the tone for the following five days of racing action. It’s always a thriller, and for the 2024 line-up, things are looking very competitive once again. As it happens, there is an overwhelming favourite for this one in the form of Palace Pier, at 1.40-1.50 odds for most major horse racing bookies in the UK. To be fair, these aren’t overly appealing odds considering that there is always the chance that something goes wrong with a favoured horse on the day. But when you consider the fact that the next horse in line has odds of 7.00, this tells you all you need to know about how likely it is that Palace Pier will grab the victory in this one.
Alternative bets for the Royal Ascot 2024
Now we’ve run through our Royal Ascot betting tips for all of the prestigious races scheduled for the event, we figured we’d put a quick section together for those that may prefer a different form of betting. Sure, in horse racing, most people will stick to common markets such as the winner, to place, and each-way bets, but for those of you that would like to spice things up – here are some other bets you may want to consider.
Accumulator betting
Given that there are so many races due to take place throughout the five days at the Royal Ascot, this provides the ideal opportunity to get some accumulators placed. If you are brand new to this concept, let us give you a quick overview of how things work. An accumulator bet is when you make a bunch of selections, regardless of the specific markets, and then add them all into one long bet slip. With so many legs listed, these bets can be difficult to win, but the potential returns can be enormous. The more legs you add, the higher the odds will be, but should one bet not come through – your entire wager is busted.
Winning distance
Rather than the standard markets that we’ve already mentioned, some punters prefer to get a little more specific. Picking the winning distance is a great way to seek some value in the markets rather than trying to go for the winner, especially if the odds are not that great for one horse to finish in first. Most major bookmakers will offer a selection of different markets for the winning distance, and the more extreme the market, the higher the odds will be. But this kind of betting can be very tricky, and extremely difficult to get correct, which is why we recommend only a small wager should you go down this path.
Forecast
Once again, to turn up the heat and go searching for larger returns, forecast betting could well be the one for you. This particular bet requires that you pick the winner and the horse that finishes in second place, but you don’t just need to get the horses correct – you need to get the exact order too. Not only bookies provide this market, but if they do, it’s actually a really fun way of wagering, especially when there are so many races taking place.
Jackpot
Our final alternative market is something known as ‘jackpot betting’. And let us tell you now, this market really lives up to its name. Occasionally, bookmakers will list a set of markets for pre-determined races where you can attempt to pick a winner for each race. If you manage to do this correctly, there will be a stated jackpot prize, so you don’t even need to worry about the odds or the amount that you stake. To make matters even better, these competitions are sometimes listed for free, but not all of the time.
Best bookmakers for Royal Ascot betting
In order to follow through on the Royal Ascot betting tips we’ve provided here, you will inevitably want to know which bookmakers are best. And when we say ‘best’, we usually mean that the bonuses are regular and enticing, the odds are great for the various Royal Ascot races, and the general experience of betting with this bookmaker is much better than plenty of others. So, without further ado, here are our recommended bookmakers for this year’s event.
Bet365
Bet365 isn’t always viewed as a specialized horse racing bookmaker, but the offerings available here really are perfect for the Royal Ascot. Not only does bet365 have a state of the art mobile app that you can wager on, but it also has very competitive odds on the whole, especially tailored to this year’s Grade 1 races.
William Hill
Compared with bet365, William Hill is more of a horse racing bookmaker, having provided betting options for this sport for decades already. Arguably, William Hill is the most traditional bookmaker that there is, and much like the other two bookies mentioned here – you’ll find exclusive bonuses, unique markets, and a leading mobile app to bet from too.
Paddy Power
Out of all of these three, Paddy Power is the one that most horse racing punters would view as the best. With a ‘best odds guarantee’ on all Royal Ascot races, along with free competitions that you can enter for the event, and more bonuses than you could think of – Paddy Power is definitely a great choice.
