Rangers vs Leverkusen Top Odds and Predictions

German strugglers are restarting their training campaign ahead of the second part of the season while Rangers will try to make up some ground with the new manager at hand.

Both Teams to Score – Yes

Leverkusen doesn’t have problems scoring goals, but it has defended its own goal. This is one of the main reasons why their season isn’t going well, but things are changing for the better since Xabi Alonso took over as the coach. Rangers are one of the most prolific scoring teams in Scotland which is not all that surprising.

Under 2.5 Goals

Going against a big-scoring game on this one. It’s the start of the training period for both teams, and even if they might score a goal, it could be a low-scoring affair in general.

Rangers to Win

The game will be played at Ibrox Stadium which is the home of Rangers, and even though there won’t be any pressure to win, it seems that the Scottish giant will look to impress their fans at the start of the training period before the season continues.

Rangers vs Leverkusen Preview: Impressing the new coach

Rangers

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was fired recently by Rangers because of poor form showing in the Champions League, and getting nine points behind their biggest domestic rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premier League. It didn’t matter to the board of directors that the Dutch tactician led the team to a Europa League final last season. Rangers did lose in the CL in some ugly fashion, especially at home to Liverpool who won 7-1. Those kinds of losses hurt van Bronckhorst in keeping his job. The new manager was named recently, Michael Beale took over, and he will have to make quick fixes to the team as the season will restart next week.

Leverkusen

Like Rangers, the German side also changed coaches. A former Liverpool and Bayern, as well as Spanish national team player, Xabi Alonso took over the helm, and it was a slow start, but a strong finish to the first part of the season, before the break caused by the World Cup. Leverkusen scored three straight victories to finish the first part of the season, and now they will have plenty of time to figure out their next steps. The team was disappointed in the Champions League as well finishing third in the group stage behind FC Porto and Club Brugge, but they did secure the continuation of their Europe adventure by advancing to the Europa League. It will give them a chance to fight for the Champions League spot next season, as that doesn’t seem likely to happen through their Bundesliga campaign.
